According to this writer who works with Japanese music companies, they did not get any notification about Youtube Red.

Didn't they get the notification or didn't they understand it? For me it sounded like Youtube did send the notification to all of its partners.

However, while it is horrible now I'm sure they'll work around it soon. Either the companies find other ways (Nico Nico?) or agree to the terms or someone hacks around Red.

After all, the idol fandom existed long before Youtube existed. Youtube was just the easiest option to get the content out to the world.

I'm pretty sure they got it and just didn't understand the terms, many western channels didn't understand the consequences either. Youtube is known to make bold decisions and not step back from them unfortunately. Hopefully this will end up well. Just testing the waters and when it gets too hot they withdraw and end the service. Unfortunately, we are probably guaranteed 6 months to a year despite the final decision.

One previously blocked company is now unblocked, Alice Project.

I suspect we'll see a few more in the coming days accepting Youtube Red and coming back online.

I would actually prefer the Japanese music companies to stand their ground.
I know the fans in America will have a hard time but in the long run it is for the best.
If the Japanese music companies give into the bullies at Google, I'm afraid Google will take it as a sign that they can do anything they want in the future.

If that's the case, hopefully they'll straighten this out soon. But I swear on my life that last night for a couple hours all the videos were unblocked, I wasn't using the proxy or anything, but when I woke up this morning even my proxy wasn't working.

The trouble with those notices they sent out is they're not that clear to me. That's because at least they realise if they sent a communication, 'sign this deal or we'll close down your channel!' People would be very unhappy, so in attenpting to spin their disgusting behaviour as some sort of kindness to the world they understandably got completely misunderstood.

The narrative being spun by J-pop fans is frankly exhausting. The whole ~SAVE J-POP~ thing is ridiculous and misguided, acting as if this is a personal attack on them. If anything, this is Americans getting yet another thing over the rest of the world, considering it's a US only service. This just shows that Japanese partners were just (unfortunately) out of the loop and I wouldn't be surprised if most of them agree to the new terms, considering it's essentially a variation of what already existed. If not it'll work out in time. And hey, if you have to use a proxy sometimes, that really isn't a big deal. Don't we all use proxies from time to time anyway for Japan-only content?  :c18: Their channels are only affected in the states, it seems, so it's not as big of a deal as a lot of people are acting.

It's definitely a certain level of slimy on YouTube's part for dropping this on existing partners, and it sucks for the companies like ESPN who are getting burned, but I think a lot of the talk surrounding it is just getting the wrong idea of what this is all about.

Well, if anything helps, I PMed the staff a few days ago and finally got a response....

Dear ---,
Concerning the videos, we know there is a problem with the MVs and we are sorry about this situation. The staff in charge of this is currently working on this subject with YouTube.

Thank you for your understanding.

Best regards.

^I am assuming you PMed the Japanese content provider since they said they are working on it with Youtube.

But why did you PMed the Japanese content provider?
There is nothing wrong with their content.
This is what I am getting annoyed at, that the US fans is treating this as a problem caused by the Japanese side.

What?? I just told them that the videos are down for the US fans and if there is any way for them to make it viewable again. I never blamed Japanese workers. You should stop acting like you know everything that's going on.

Why didn't you say that earlier. I am sorry I directed that to you.

Anyways, I have come across alot of comments at numerous news sites and fan sites that treats it like it is the Japan music industries fault, wishing for them to resolve the situation as if they started it in the first place.
You can't blame me 100% for comming to the wrong conclusion that was what you implied in your earlier post.

Why so aggresive?

I was upset at first, but I'm pretty much over it. A lot of UFP's stuff is on Dailymotion, and since a lot of the major channels are affected, the videos are easy to find other places. I will miss watching some of the UUG, Kikka, and Nakajima Takui videos, but I'll get over it. The channel that I was worried about most, (Alice Project), seems to have accepted the new terms of service after a few days meaning I can watch those videos again.

But... It wasn't implied. You shouldn't have even assumed what I messaged them was offensive or wrong, if you really did care you could've just asked and I could've put my own message. Sorry for getting aggressive, today hasn't been the best day for me but whatever.

If you really want me to, PM me an idol group whose videos your blocked from seeing and I can see if I can find them on dailymotion or nicovideos.

I have confirm with some ppl in US that the UUG's fan uploaded videos are still viewable.
Like those taken at release events, free liveshows or promotional events.
This one for example: https://www.youtube....D0v2v_jA/videos

Hey, I got a question.  I live in the US and without a proxy, I can not see videos or comments.  With a proxy I can see videos but the comments sections are still blocked.

Is everyone else having this experience?
