Stardust's newest unit from Fukuoka, "Stardust Promotion's group of outstanding talent that comes along once every 100 years," Batten Show Jo Tai. Their name means, "X-mark Girls Corp," formed just this past month. They started out earlier in the year with the temporary name of F-Girls with 7 members, but they've changed their name, dropped a member (Kinoshita Natsuki), and have just started their activities as a new unit and will be releasing their debut single, "Batten Show Jo," on 9/30. Although they come the Fukuoka branch of Stardust, they have stated that they will be representing all of Kyuushuu to spread all over Japan.

 

After the release of their first single, they announced that they would be performing at Zepp Fukuoka before its closing, and there they announced that they had signed a major record deal with Victor Records. They released their major debut single, "Osshoi!" on April 20, 2016. Their second major single was "Yoka Yoka Dance," which had a tie-in with Dragon Ball Super.

... Yep, that's it. A lot of these girls bear resemblance to other idols, I noticed. Hoshino Sora is like Taguchi and Nomura Minami combined, and Haruno Kiina might as well be Shiori pulling double-duty in two idol groups.

I`m inexplicably drawn to Sora, even though she`s both young and tiny. I might be turning into some kind of strange female lolicon.

In all seriousness, I think Arisa looks the cutest/least awkward so far.

I find myself drawn to Sora as well, for reasons I can't quite explain. Other than that, Arisa seems to suit my tastes, as she's cute and funny and seems to be establishing more of a character than everyone else. 

 

It's also interesting to see that a few people in the audience at the TIF performance had on the Baccho shirts, since they had only been performing as the current group (not F-Girls) for all of two days. I guess if they had followed them as F-Girls and picked a favorite then it makes sense, but still, they've only been active since January.

Some details about their first single:

 

There will be three versions, all limited. The first two will only be sold in brick-and-mortar stores (no online retailers) in Kyuushuu, Yamaguchi, and Okinawa. The third will only be sold through Loppi and HMV, including online. The HMV version will include all b-sides found on the first two types, as well as a random photo, one of 11 types. 

 

Dream Version:

Atsu ka Version:

1. Batten Shoujo.

2. Atsu ka Natsu Kita bai!

 

Loppi/HMV Nation-wide version:

The covers haven't been release yet, but assumedly that's the only thing that will be different. This is a nice change of pace, since the other Stardust local groups have an extended period of limiting certain songs to region-specific editions, making them very difficult to obtain from outside the country.

And as I said before, the covers are the only real reason to try and buy the Dream and Atsu ka versions, if you're looking to be a serious collector.

 

Also, some armchair analysis, but this looks to be the first time a Stardust group will be pushing a purple member as a front girl. Perhaps it's a bit early to tell, but most of the groups have settled on their hierarchies very early in their development (I'm excluding Ebichuu from this discussion since they are not officially a color group).

This is an interesting development, since yellow is almost always the #2 member (now #1 in Saki's case) and purple is always the lowest-rung member. Not to say anything bad about the members themselves, but it seems that the colors are handed down to them by way of where management thinks they will belong in the group, and the purple members tend to veer towards the not-so-idolish side. Reni is the "anything goes" idol, Yuzuki is the ultimate "good-for-nothing" character, and Kurumi is perhaps the least ladylike of any girl in 3B. Green also seems to get set in the back a bit, at least in terms of Stardust, which still means the back girls get more singing and screen time in one concert than the back members of Morning Musume will get in their entire careers, but it's interesting to see Sakura get this push. I noticed that in the early live footage we have of them, purple is a pretty common color in terms of what the fans are wearing, so she's popular right out of the gate, unlike the other purples. Maybe it's meaningless, but it's still fun to note.

lol .. Honestly .. I haven't found the one I like ..
and it is quite troublesome as it's online purchase version is only on HMV ..
I still actually don't like HMV after they mess up my bonus for my GEM debut single ..
I specifically ordered those singles for the bonus photos and made very sure that it is available ..
But HMV didn't send it to me and insist that I made a mistake ..
After going round and round, they never apologize and insist that I made a mistake and sent me copy and paste reply over and over again ..

But anyway .. it just don't make sense to just order a 1200yen CD and send it over incurring overseas delivery for just 1 small item ..
Getting HMV domestic delivery require you to sign up a membership with a membership card which my forwarder would probably lose it ..
So I went about it the other way .. through Rakuten Japan .. HMV got a store there ..

Anyway .. according to the site .. there is a special photo bonus ..
and I ordered it together with Syachi EP which release on the same day ..
furthermore .. HMV discount for the Syachi EP is even bigger than Amazon ..
The original price is 4500yen, Amazon Japan is at 4096yen and HMV is at 3888yen
I think it is a good deal
