No prob! Thanks for letting me know it worked. Sorry for not hardsubbing it or uploading it somewhere to stream, my laptop’s capabilities are a little…non-existent, tbh. ^^;

Also, I’ve subbing finished Beta!

I’d love to hear people’s thoughts on it after watching, so if anyone hasn’t watched it yet because of the language barrier, let me know what you think!

Everything appears to be working correctly, and props on the quality translation work.  I tried making subs for Alpha at one point, but I've never had much of an ability to focus on one task for very long.  At most, I'd end up adding a few more lines when I'd go back to watch again, but I always ended up watching through to the end of Alpha, skipping to the end of Beta, and forgetting to translate, so that still didn't make it very far.  ^^;

I did have to spend a bit more time in my own original viewing trying to understand the suwasuwa because of the quirk of their speech, even though anything story-relevant is addressed directly by Asada.  Though you noted that it was done on the fly, it was nice to see some direct jellyfish translations for once without having to rely on mental notes I made a year ago.  There were a couple of untranslated jellyfish lines in the subs, as you mentioned there would be, at the beginning of both versions.  Since the lines weren't especially relevant, Asada was yelling over them, and the context fills in the gaps, nothing significant is really lost to the lack of translation.  To memory, I believe it was the first lines by Nonaka and Makino that were along the lines of ”suwa de na ra ko~" (which I swear is at least half a dozen puns wrapped into one line, but probably is supposed to just be understood as "he's come to scold us") followed by "suwa da ya~!" (yada~!)

Thanks again for the subs!  I've been waiting to let a friend watch Triangle for ages, but she doesn't even have a peripheral understanding of Japanese outside of kawaii, desu, and Reina saikou.  I tried to do a thorough check of the subs for both versions in both .ass and .srt formats to give as much feedback as I could manage, but I'm terrible at remembering to actually read them a lot of the time if I already know the story. Everything I remember reading did seem appropriate and done quite well, so I think they will work perfectly for her.  :respect:

Thank you for the subs!  :good:

Spoiler

BTW will you be subbing their Triangle - COOL JAPAN DOU stage thing? I don't think there's anything important but it does add fluff and some story to some characters. Namely Rivet, Prince Phi and the Volga soldiers.

Once again, thank you for the subs!  :respect:

@Fallacia
Thanks again for the feedback! The SuwaSuwa speech was definitely my least favorite part to tackle. I originally intended to ignore their lines entirely until I realized Lindy’s parts sort of made that impossible. I tried going back and filling out all the dialogue but I knew I’d inevitably forget to do some. The commoners’ Kansaiben also came in second in terms of painfulness.

Once I decided I’d post it online I was determined to go back and double-check my work but…that didn’t really happen. Going line by line really does require a level of patience I definitely lack, and this whole experience has reaffirmed that the subbing life is not for me. ^^;
Still, Triangle is a really great play and showcases the Morning Musume members so well that I felt even my amateur efforts would be better than going a third year without some sort of Triangle subs. Thanks for confirming I didn’t miss anything super-big. If anyone does spot a major error, let me know and I should be able to fix the Mega links at least. :D

Spoiler

I’m not planning on doing their COOL JAPAN DOU at the moment, partially because of time constraints and partially because I don’t have a copy of it myself. ^^;

Finally, just to clarify for anyone else reading this, the .srt and .ass subs are identical, they’re just different levels of customizable using the “subtitles” feature on VLC.

Finally managed to to watch Triangle since it's now subbed, and MAN. I can't remember the last time I cried at the end of even a movie. Distant Riho fits her sooooo well, she was so cool. I was apprehensive at first about Ayumi being a lead, but after this, she fit the role spot on!

Also, does anyone know where to read the manga? I'll even take RAW versions, as I can read some basic japanese, (most manga are pretty good at putting up kumimoji/furigana.)

MM: Ayumi, Maria, Rio |||| A: RikakoAyanoWakana |||| JJ: RuruAkariRiai

TF: Mao, Marine, Mizuho |||| BYO~: Minami, Kurumi, Kokoro |||| ON: KanamiMomo, Kirara

HPKU:  Yulia, Karin, Ayana |||  HPK: Niina
