Mine's Voltes V no Uta by Mitsuko Horie 'cause Voltes V. It was famous nationwide for a long time in the Philippines a long time ago(Voltes V was even banned by former president/dictator because it boosts people's nationalism). It was re-aired when I was a kid. So much hype! XD

KARA - Electric Boy. At the time I did not know k-pop groups released songs in Japan. I of course had no idea that the song was not in Korean, since I was a fairly new fan of k-pop back then. I could not tell the difference between Korean and Japanese at in 2012!  :w00t:

If I don't count any anime openings, it was (actually all these 3 at same day): Ayumi Hamasaki "Heaven", Hitomi Shimatani "Viola" and Yui Horie "Sakura". Loved them and still love!  <3

One of the Sailor Moon closings from a VHS I bought when I was like 7 years old. Tuxedo Mirage from Sailor Moon S. I still love that song, so much. It's really a beautiful song. (The opening was still the dubbed English version for some reason?)

It's very difficult to tell exactly which one is it. But I assume it must be one of those Japanese cartoon soundtrack.

tough one. I remember renting out anime when i was single digit aged. So i don't think i should count those  :c18: plus i wasn't particularly addicted to anime, i just thought the vhs covers were interesting so i rented. lol

I consider the first Japanese song i listened to was Saku by dir en grey. A good friend at the time in high school recommended them. and the j-music exploring commenced! Next artist i stumbled upon was actually W(double you). :D

I had to think hard for this, but I think the first Japanese song I ever heard was probably when I was like 6, or so. It was the Japanese theme song for Teen Titans. Nostalgia.  :ongaku:

I will guess at the song on the ending credits of Battle Royale.

The first Japanese song I heard in the modern era is AKB48 - Heavy Rotation.

Not 100% sure, but I think it must have been the opening song of "Attack No.1" (the Anime).

When it was broadcasted in the very early 1990s on German TV it was —of course— dubbed and they replaced the original opening and ending tracks with German stuff too. But for some reason they left the original Japanese audio untouched in the final episode when the original opening song was playing in the background during a flashback scene.

I immediately fell in love with the song (I had no idea about its genre or anything), so I made sure to catch the rebroadcast of the episode on the next day in the morning and recorded the song with the microphone of a cassette player (the only technical possibility I had at that time ;) ). I still have the tape somewhere stuffed in some old storage box. :)
