When she joined, she was a cute kid. But never like "OMG! Stop everything and look at this beauty", however, around the time the 9th gen joined, she started getting seriously gorgeous. Now, I think she might be in the top 5 most beautiful women in the world ♥

Top percent at the very least, and I probably wouldn't have admitted to that until even fairly late into her career. Whether it was her interactions with the group or variety appearances, I often thought of her as something of a comedy/variety member for most of her career. Her 2008 solo performance of Furusato was where I started to change my mind on her performance ability, but visually it still probably wasn't until ~2013 that I really started to appreciate her as one of the most well-rounded members in the group's history.
Contemporary hot take though, 2008 Sayumi = 2019 Akane. For whatever influence it was claimed that Sayumi had over the 12ki selections, Sayumi's fingerprints are all over Maria and Akane.

I'd love it if Sayu started a gaming channel similar to the one Miyawaki Sakura does/did(?).
Give all those virtual youtubers like Kizuna Ai a run for their money.
