Haha, that's true, it was rather expected. But they still had a nice chat, and from what I was able to understand it's been a while since they talked over the phone.

I don't know much about the technical aspects of singing, but while watching her solo fest performance of Last Kiss, she seemed to be doing some interesting things with her singing. Is she one of the more technical singers in HP?

I guess? I'm not good at catching rhythm but she's definitely one of the more expressive singers, and always seems to have good vocal control.

I'm not sure if she focused more on techniques while performing that song. One thing I know is that she usually tries adjusting her singing/feeling/expression to match the song, so every time you hear her sing you'll be amazed and want to hear more. She's not the top vocalist in H!P but she knows what she's doing, and always chooses suitable songs. Sometimes I like her singing Country Girls' songs more than Country Girls members do.

I agree, Risamaru is very expressive, and she has a beautiful vocal color. I think she's still very underrated as a singer among H!P fans, even though she is the backbone of Tsubaki along with Kishimon when it comes to singing.

I think Risa is probably underrated for an idol because she doesn't really do the power belting stuff that's really catchy and flashy like Ruru/Sakura/Sayuki, but I really do enjoy her singing.

As far as her singing, I recall a Facebook convo in which I remarked she was an upper echelon singer. Someone said they had never considered that and asked for examples. I thought about that and couldn't really point to any one thing, it's just that EVERYTHING she sings is right on point. Her pitch, her voice control, her expressiveness, all are dead on!

Gawd, I love this performance!

^This performance was so enjoyable. I'm still sad the last NGP girls event never happened. 

But, yeah, Risa was already a good singer. 

 

For me, she really improved in 2019. I really believe the musical helped her a lot. Her solo Yume Monogatari is just wow. She has a good control on her voice.

And her birthday event was great too. Her expressiveness while singing Otoko no Ko and Denwa Matteimasu killed me (My profile picture )

I hate to say this, but Risamaru sings some Country Girl's songs on par or even better than the original line-up members do. Her only weakness is when the song is inappropriate for her, such as upbeat, rock and cutesy songs, it doesn't work regardless of how she tries. Songs like Danshaism, Kedakaku sakihokore, slow songs like Forever - Anata ni aitai, Kasa wo sasu senpai, Koi wa Magnet, are super compatible with her voices, and even members with good voice and rhythm cannot beat her when singing the same songs.

My issue with Risa's voice is she tends to sound rather softer (in terms of volume) than the rest during the group performances.

She is a stable singer and has a pleasant voice, but as much as I like her (she is my fav member of Tsubaki Facotory), I don't really consider her being one of the top-tier singers H!P currently.

She is definitely above-average at most.
