Until there's a kiss pic, they can always fall back on the "relative" defense, and if there was any claim he made to be her boyfriend, they can just say that relative was mad at her and trying to get her in trouble. That's assuming they address it at all. Hamaura had her USB-C in another boy's power dock sitting in his basket right around the same time Hirose had a picture posted with another guy before that whole lawsuit threat. If they address it at all, she'll either be stepping down "voluntarily" or apologizing for the "confusion" in an official statement. Otherwise, it'd only be a problem if she pulls a Taguchi or a Yaguchi.

 

Meanwhile, I'll still just be rolling my eyes and being annoyed at the idiocy that (as much as people insist it isn't an actual rule) idols still aren't allowed to get caught dating. At some point, the resources they've wasted when they drop a talent from a dating "scandal" has to cost them more than any hypothetical loss in ticket or event sales from the social amoebas that somehow feel "betrayed" that teenagers might try to have a normal life outside of idoling. Tsubaki sales are big and won't depend on any individual member's standing in the group or among fans so long as there's still the safety of being able to ambiguously deny anything was outside of the norm. Still, if they ever wanted to make a statement about this archaic stain of an expectation, standing up for the members of their #2 group would be the time to do it.

 

Thankfully for the sensibilities of those so-called fans, I'm not in a position to release an official statement telling them that they can have their tantrums in a ball pit where their childish behavior is better suited, and might even benefit them if they happen to acquire a couple on the way out. Maybe then they won't be so afraid of catching cooties.
