Former beboga member Aya is now an AV idol - she was my first oshi when I started to go to Japan, I would never have thought she would do that!!!

As repressed as a lot of idols can be, I'm actually surprised it hasn't happened more often over the years.

I wonder, how do fans generally respond to this? Do they pretend it never happened or do they embrace it? Most wota seem to be really set on the idea that their idol shouldn't have a boyfriend and obviously not have sex (unless with them I guess?).

From what I can tell many of the ones that supported her before still support her, she has almost 10,000 followers just days after making her new account.
I think it's a bit different with underground idols than with big idols, expectations are different.
A lot of the newer underground idol groups have girls that smoke, that used to not be the case but it seems it's not that big of a deal anymore.

WOW just WOW!!!!!
Two "new" members.
https://twitter.com/...150297557377026
One, Kirino Miyu from one of my favorite groups WILL-O' (WOW) - https://twitter.com/miyu_kirino
The first incarnation of this group was Alloy - after Momoko Kitano left they restarted and renamed the group as WILL-O' and Miyu was a founding member, all members of WILL-O' graduated a little while ago and they will restart with new members.
I have to say I'm really happy that the DEARSTAGE agency sucked up all these groups (both Nijicon and WILL-O') without that there wouldn't have been a connection.
The second is also a big WOW, Otsuka Miyu returns to the group, having originally graduated in 2017 - https://twitter.com/otsuka__miyu
One of my favorite members back in the day, she was quite weird but she was young back then, I wonder how she will be as an adult.

Pardon my ignorance, but why did Miyu graduate in the first place? She's coming back in strong so I'm curious as to why the pivot happened.
Can't recall but maybe school, she was 16 then - but it is kinda odd to re-debut at 20, but I don't complain she does weird faces and is just weird in general.

Well I don't know about that.weird faces

I went through the thread to see why (the link was expired because they were still under Pixiv) but school stuff makes sense. I always wondered if the 'I want to be a regular girl' path ever ended up being a regret for some idols and I guess that's the case here. More power to her.
I actually found the page in the wayback machine and it didn't say anything other than she had requested to end her contract and they had agreed.
