Part two, same questions, different members:
When you heard that you were going to get a music video, how did you feel?
Morimoto Eri: All at once I was bursting with joy because I had been so looking forward to it, like, I finally get to sing (; !!! I love singing more than anyone so I was filled with a feeling of I definitely, definitely want to sing on my own!!!
Asakawa Misaki: I've loved singing ever since I was little and I had always had the desire to become a singer, so I was super happy! I felt like Chubbiness had taken one step forward!!
Horikawa Ami: It was like a dream come true so I was happy, and I felt happy about the type of activities we were going advancing!
Tell me what you were thinking when you first heard your song.
Eri: It has cheerful and cute lyrics to make you happy, and I felt like we could get that across to the people who heard it! Manma de ii ya's lyrics have a really strong impact, I think it's an interesting song. It also mentions "round" and "squishy" in the lyrics so I thought it fit us!!
Misaki: It's cheerful and peppy and it got stuck in my head from the moment I first heard it (laughs). It makes you happy hearing it or singing it, and I personally listen to it when I'm feeling down and I pick right back up, a smile naturally comes to my face! I think it's a support song for pudgy girls! HAPPY song!
Ami: It's a happy and positive song that suits pudgy girls, it's an earworm and has a cute melody, I think!
Was there anything you were worried about with the music video?
Eri: The dance took me three days to memorize, so I was extremely worried and frantic in my mind about being able to do it. For the individual shots especially, a lot of people were watching me, and I was nervous, and worried about being able to keep a smile on my face. Also, I'm sweat a lot, so after one take I was drenched and I was worried about it showing up on camera (laughs). It was virtually identical to the artist MV shoots I've seen on TV, so I was nervous the whole time!
Misaki: I was worried about the reactions of everyone close to me. However, my parents and my friends and my relatives all had nice things to say, "Chubbiness is so cute!" "That song made me happy," they told me, and I was so happy all my worries disappeared!
Ami: Dancing and singing at the same time is still very difficult for me, so I realized just how much more vital it was to work towards building my strength up!
What did you put the most effort into when getting ready for the recording and the video shoot?
Eri: It was my first time putting something together, so I had no idea how to sing or project my voice or put emotions into it, so every day I thought about the best way to sing it, and so I kept singing every day! Until we shot the MV, the number one thing I did was look in the mirror! (laughs) Thinking about the angles you want to be shot from and cute poses, up until the moment I shot it, it was so important!!
Misaki: I listened to the song whenever I was at home, and I practiced singing and dancing a ton so that I wouldn't make any mistakes! Also, I ate a lot, slept a lot, exercised, and kept up my pudgy girl system!
Ami: I focused on singing so that the contents of the song would be expressed clearly, and we only had three days to rehearse, so we practiced the dance so that all 10 of us would be on the same page! Also, I really wanted to dance and show the appeal of pudgy girls, so I worked really hard on making my dance part as sharp as it could be!
What is something you want people to pay attention to in the Manma de ii ya! video?
Eri: There are close-up face shots and full-body shots, so I want to people to look at each of us and see where we're pudgiest!! In the scenes where we're all eating sweets together or when the doughnuts suddenly appear with us, I also want you to look at our sparkling eyes and smiles! I think we get across our love of food and how happy it makes us!!
Misaki: Of course it's the sweets scene! The pudgy girl feeling really comes out in the scenes with the doughnuts and in the opening when we're all jumping around over the candy, and it's chock-full of all of our thrilled smiles
Ami: The cute lyrics of this pudgy girl support song and the easy-to-remember dance! I want everyone to dance with us (^o^)!! Also, in the scene where we're eating candy in our tracksuits, the members really were eating and screaming and having fun (laughs), so I'd like everyone to look at all of the members' true faces (^o^)!!
How was your first live stage at 24-hour TV?
Eri: Honestly, before the show, because it was our first show on such a big stage with 24-hour TV, I was shaking with nervousness, but I was surprised by how friendly the audience was and how much fun performing was!! They smiled as they watched us, and they danced and waved their hands along with us, they were so nice and it made me incredibly happy. At first I was frantically trying to keep smiling while dancing and singing, but with each performance I was able to enjoy it more naturally! I have so much gratitude for all the staff members and our managers!!
Misaki: I was so nervous. But when I stood on stage, even though I was nervous, the audience was clapping along and smiling and looking at us so warmly, I almost started crying. I'm really happy we got to do a charity live and stand on a wonderful stage!
Ami: Everyone in Nagoya was so welcoming and supportive so that even someone as inexperienced as me put on a fun show! I was so happy then! Thank you!! Seeing everyone smiling along with us, I wanted keep doing things to make Japan! The world! Happy!!!
What sort of challenge do you want to undertake after this?
Eri: I want to do live events in each prefecture in Japan! Of course, at the same time I want to enjoy local gourmet food as I go around the country, so I want to make everyone Happy on a full stomach!! I was happiest at the last live, and I got to see the smiles of the audience right in front of me, so I want to do more events to make people Happy and see more smiles!!
Misaki: I want to do lots of live shows, but I also want to try acting in dramas or in a play! I want to be all-mighty, undertaking everything, so I'll work hard!
Ami: I want to go around singing Manma de ii ya! in lots of places so that plenty more people can know who Chubbiness is! We'll make you Happy (^o^)!!!
