So I want to save something I timeshifted on nicovideo. As StreamRipper or Internet Download Manager didn't work I downloaded kakorokuRecorder which apparently is the thing to do it properly. Thanks to a tutorial I was able to set it up all properly (client is in Japanese), put in my login info and tried to download the video. However it always fails saying "it can't read the file" so I'm guessing it's because somehow it doesn't work properly with a non-Japanese operating system? In the log the file name is all like ????????? instead of Japanese signs even though my operating system can display it. The XML files that contain the comments get the same error but at least the do get downloaded. I don't have much time left till the video "expires" so I hope someone can help.

Try create a custom filename formatting, don't use any kanji.

Okay that seemed to help in some way, but now I get "ERROR: rtmp server sent error" and "ERROR: rtmp server requested close"

Apparently it's downloading now. I had forgotten to DL the rmtpdump plugin thingy. By the way, this is the tutorial I used: http://clock08.tumbl...ku-and-kakoroku

EDIT: Okay it stopped working at 93% and told me I should try to resume download...how do I do that?

Hmmm I'm not sure/can't remember if there's any 'resume' function in Kakoroku.

But you can re-download the incomplete part by adding comma and number of incomplete part at the end of the video url.

 

Usually the video was split into multiple parts :

 

So for example if the 3rd part was incomplete, add ,3 at the end of url (lv113790113,3)

Ah yeah, I see, it's part of part 2 and even downloading it again like this made it fail at 93% with ERROR: RTMP_ReadPacket, failed to read RTMP packet header

I guess it's really broken there somehow? I don't know.

You could also search the rtmp link in the source. Can anyone see the page? Maybe I can snatch it.
