gryzze,

Yes. Churi and I believe some others too, said that if you had to apply for it next year as well, then they wouldn't participate.

It's beautiful that they finally extended the ranks. I wonder how this will turn out. Will anyone be able to dethrone Sashihara? Who will rank that hasn't ranked and who will not rank that has ranked? This is already so exciting and nothing has even happened.

I do have to admit that 16 more girls to the mix is great, because we get to see more of the "action". On the other hand it will sting a little extra for those who don't make it this time around as well I guess.

Now I just hope that this event gets streamed, for the love of all things holy. Just.. please...

Well, no surprise I want Sasshi at the top :) , though it's a wide field this year, I think...

If there's no streaming this year, I think they've killed AkiP and replaced him with one of Kim Jong-un's older brothers, cos it would be pretty dumb.

The election I would say is THE event for the whole group, and I imagine the ONLY event of theirs that generates massive media attention as well as masses of viewers

from way outside the fanbase. If they shut down the coverage of this, no wonder the sales will keep dropping, as it denies the mainstream Japanese audience an opportunity to

get hooked on this. I mean, the election is damn good drama, if nothing else...

Great .. we got this thread up .. :)

Basically .. I am still waiting to see who else is not participating ..
anyway .. seem bad news come fast for me .. as Rumi is not taking part ..
She is someone I like and support for quite some time .. she is the 2nd girl that I like in SKE48 after Kumi ..
To me .. she is a senior member (2nd gen) who tried her best to make herself interesting ..but failing to get much success ..
She is never a senbatsu and I have been waiting so long but I guess it may never happen ...
This is pretty sad because usually .. when they don't participate .. they are hinting at graduation ..so I really dunno .. :(

^In an idol empire as crowded as this graduation might be just as well. She's still just 19. There is a lot she could do with herself if she graduated instead of waiting for a miracle. Tomoko should also be thinking about graduation. She's 26yrs old on top of being around since 2009, for crying out loud. If your day hasn't come yet it most likely never will Tomoko, but you are still in time to try your hand at a career elsewhere.

A survey was held with regards to the senbatsu election, where 1000 participants (male/female) were asked to give a vote. These were the results:

(position, name, actual rank in previous election, number of votes given in survey)

Interesting to see Sasshii on top in this survey as well as last years election. Ricchan very high up and it's clear that she has become a familiar face on TV, mostly thanks to her fantastic contributions on Mechaike I'd say (though she always seem to have good appearances in whatever show it might be). Jurina rather low, and Milky is actually almost at the very last place, beaten by Akicha - a girl that has spent most of her time since 2012 in Jakarta, Indonesia...

It remains to be seen then if these people will vote as well though, and if there's enough of their kind to reflect this upon the actual election results.

Interesting results there, Krusha... and a result I could very well live with if came true  :w00t:  (for obvious reasons)

It will also be interesting to see if this reflects how Miichan ends in this election. Last year's placement was pretty much a declaration of support from

a good share of the AKB fandom, I think. It would be nice to know if the participants in the survey were casual fans, redneck hardcore wotas or if it was just Japanese

or international fans asked.

And even though Sasshi is my goddess and I've turned out to be more of an HKT-fan, I still hope for an AKB-dominated election,

especially for Senbatsu (overwhelmingly so, in fact) but that's just my opinion.

Has anyone heard more about whether or not the event wil be streamed?

If it's not streamed, I'm going to burn something.I would be furious :P

It's interesting that that survey ended up with Sasshi winning with such a high margin from Mayu.

Waiting for June will be excruciating.

LOL .. the survey just simply don't take into multiple votes ..
the difference between the top players to the causal players are way more than 1000 votes which the total amount of people survey ..
note that I call them players and not fans because the most hardcore fan maybe a poor guy and a causal fan who are rich may only come to live once a year at the election ..

For me .. I do see Sasshi votes count falling if the cost of votes remain constant .. but I do not see anyone capable of catching her ..
furthermore .. those who are capable of challenging Sasshi may also suffer drop in votes too .. and those who probably have a increase in votes are too far from Sasshi..
It would take a huge fall out or screw up for Sasshi to drop enough for anyone to catch her .. a huge increase from Mayuyu or Yukirin is very unlikely .
So Sasshi should get it this year .. for these .. it all weight heavily on cash so a miracle is quite unlikely actually ..
The only way Mayuyu can catch Sasshi is she announce her graduation and it will be her last election ..

The vote indicates something interesting, which is that people asked to participate in the survey only has 1 vote to cast. People voting in the actual election has more votes to cast. But the trend in the survey shows that even with just 1 vote, people are voting in such a manner. Perhaps then, which is what's interesting, this pattern will be reflected in the actual election itself? We just have to wait and see, and by see I mean watch a live stream on YouTube...

Lol .. I know you going to say that ..
But that's because we only look at the top 3-6 ..
If you do overall accuracy on the survey to the whole 48G ..
The it may not even be 5% accurate ..
Basically there is not relation to the vote .. It's just show plain popularity which we do not need to do the survey to get it right ..
If we ever bother to compare the top 5 to everyone prediction ..
It will look like there is a relationship between our guessing and the actual result ..and the relationship of the survey to the actuals is almost the same ..
Meaning .. If Sasshi does win and I said so just now means the she win because I said so .. Which is similar to the survey being a good form of focusing the election result ..
The pattern maybe similar but there is almost no relationship ..

They are now accepting applications for the election and the members who have applied can be seen on the site below.

You'll have to check every group for a complete list.
