You could say Death Rabbits is the next Baby Metal.

They just got on my radar yesterday with a barrage of Youtube videos being tweeted. The reason they got on my radar is because I follow Aeries, the agency who handles USA*USA Girls Club and Maeda Irori aka Irorin ^_^

I learned that Death Rabbits started as a sub-group from USA*USA, just like RhymeBerry. I checked the USA*USA thread but there was not much about Death Rabbits posted there.

Death Rabbits made official debut on 2013 November 11.

Death Rabbits are made up of:

Name: Yuzu 大川柚(おおかわゆず)/ Ookawa Yuzu
DOB: 2000/12/24(12歳)
Color: Blue

Name: Emi 望月愛実(もちづきえみ)/ Mochizuki Emi
DOB: 2002/1/5(11歳)
Color: Pink

Name: Karin 安井夏鈴(やすいかりん)/ Yasui Karin
DOB: 2000/8/19(13歳)
Color: Green

Name: Akari Death 神崎 晃(35歳)
Age: 35

Unlike Baby Metals skeleton band who are not considered part of the group, Akari Death is a member of Death Rabbits.
Akari Death's profile: http://www7b.biglobe...death/info.html

Having Akari Death onboard will give them a big boost. He brings in the heavy metal element to the group while the 3 younger members bring the idol element.

I don't think Death Rabbits will reach the heights that Babymetal are reaching, but they have a fun and weird concept that I enjoy. I stumbled upon them when Idol STAR WARS was released, but haven't paid a lot of attention to them. Glad to see they have a new single coming out. :good:

^Well thats what people said when Baby Metal first appeared on the scene. But ofcourse it won't be easy to catch up to Baby Metal since they have a head start. Lets give Death Rabbits a year to prove themselves ^_^ Going by their 2nd single they seems to be improving, so that is a good sign ^_^

Death Rabbits have potential, but i dont think they will become the next Babymetal. DR put too much focus on Akira's death grunt, which instantly makes the music less accessable to the mainstream. In BM you only hear some growls now and then, and mostly in their older songs, they progressed beyond using that gimmick. DR also lacks someone like Suzuka, which is an important factor to BM's success. Finally, the background music. Whoever recorded this song clearly doesnt have the same skill level as the musicians that handle Babymetal's recording, the same applies to the songwriting.

But i definately like the chorus part from the 3 girls, it sounds different than Babymetal and shows that they have some potential.

But if there is a next Babymetal, i think its that FruityPochette group which also turned into a metal/idol hybrid recently.

I hope DR do not try to be like Babymetal, because that must go wrong before it begins. DR should find their own typical sound. The only chance to gain success.

And concerning Fruit Pochette: What is that? Babymetal for high society? That also doesn't work, you'll see.

^ wow, the number of BM clones keeps rising fast.

But it does look like all these new bands that keep popping up appear to have songwriters without any ties to metalbands, while BM has actually some big names behind them.

Sofar all these new bands appear to be indie bands. I dont see any of them reach BM's succes unless someone gets signed to a major label with the resources to hire some good songwriters (and a marketing machine offcourse).

hmm .. seem that all the rest are all not that young or attractive in looks ..and does not have that special selling point ..
BabyMetal still have their uniqueness .. while the rest seem like just throwing a bunch of girls to a band who the band themselves look wannabe ....

But this Death Rabbits seem quite a good one in special selling point and uniqueness because of the guy ..
he makes it feel that it is more authentic metal instead of just throwing a bunch of girls into a genre that have history and culture which unfortunately most think its only about headbanging and acting stupid ..
They have really young and cute girls .. but I do think they are too young ..they should be more acceptable maybe in 2 years time ..

Anyway .. this is just my initial opinion with just random browsing and I have very little knowledge of these ..even BabyMetal .. I am really noob at it ..LOL
Just my thoughts for now actually .. :P

Having attended a new idol showcase on friday, featuring Next Shoujo Jiken and Lolisyn (whose new lineup is a bit more metal than the old one), as well as a soloist called 2&, a group with actual costumes called Tsuki to Taiyou, and a duet called Ride, it does seem as if the next wave of idols is inspired more by Babymetal's breakout than the continued financial success of AKB or the brief flirtation idols had with prog after Momoclo crossed over. Still, I think I prefer it this way.

The whole crossover of metal and idol has potential to give a lot of coolness annnnd some sillyness like this. I suppose for every idol group who makes it big there will be your bargain bucket indie groups who likely won't ever sell much. This group is a bit too odd for me to get into and seems more of a ripoff than taking a concept and trying something new with it.

Emi just keeps getting cuter and cuter. Makes me think of Hitomi Arai (TGS) in 2010. If I get it correctly it's kind of like a split release? With an idol-pop only song by them and a song by the dude's project? Either way I'm still not really digging their songs, except for a few good bits it just feels "poorly" to me like their other songs.

The girls' vocal parts in the new MV remind me to one of momoclo's songs.

Not really impressed by the 'metal' part of Death Rabbits though, the guy's screams are horrible, and the music sounds more like noise (worse than grindcore). I still think the project has potential, but they need a lot of finetuning.

^ Those guys aren't very good at reviewing... lol

I received my copy of their first album a few days ago and I'm really satisfied with it. Back when I fist discovered this group, I wasn't too impressed with Buchou's vocals, but they've grown on me. And Emi is such a good singer with a pretty strong voice with good control for a 12 year old. I hope she'll stick with singing because I feel she has a lot of potential. Yuzu and Karin (my favorite member!) have a nice sound too.

Hope this DR album will at least sell well enough to justify effort into making another one, because I really like their style and sound.

^They are honest with their comments thats what I like about them. They don't try to judge a song by the vocals like they are some judge from a singing reality show. If the song rocks their boat they will like it ^_^
They liked Death Rabbits and this was their first time at listening to them.

The few songs I have listened to, so far I like :D

Anyone interested in the lyrics for all the songs on Death Rabbits' Dai Ichiji Usagi Taisen album, I've copied them from the booklet and provided the Romaji.
