So this thread is kind of over already, but I'm still gonna post something that happened to me recently because I think you guys might find it interesting. It's about the effect of Password is 0 being on a CM.
I met up with two girls from Japan this week because they were traveling to Europe. They are 24 and 26 years old, from Hiroshima and Osaka and one of them doesn't like idols at all, while the other one likes Momoclo. They are the type of people who, if you say you like MM, will sing "Love Machine" to you but won't know much else about them. So they were at my place and I have a dog called "Nero". They kept playing with him and repeating his name, and suddenly, they started singing his name in the "zero, zero, zero - password is zero!" melody of MM's song and laughed. It's nothing weird for them to suddenly start singing, they do it all the time. But this time I asked them what they were singing (of course I knew). They said it's from some CM in which they sing "zero" and they changed it to my dogs name. "What was the CM for again? Some phone..." was what they said. I asked them if they knew the song was from MM. They didn't know and didn't seem to care much about it.
But it was really interesting for me that they knew the song and sang it like all the other songs they sing. It was also interesting that they didn't know it was from MM. So I guess the CM had some effect on the general public as the song was catchy enough to stay in their heads. If now UFP managed to make MM more recognizable, it would be a total win.
Also, the next day, we talked about music and I mentioned MM again and then the Momoclo-fan was like: "So I heard Michishige-san has graduated?" "No, but she will in autumn." "Oh." She turned to her the other girl and said: "Heard that? She's the last girl we know. When she's gone we won't know anyone of the group."
