More than anything else, the reason I support 48groups are their music !! I just looove the songs...

^ I find Nogi's style peculiar... So simple and bland... Like it's good when you just want a relaxing background music to your life maybe. Keyakizaka46 was beyond perfection though music wise, I am scared about what their rebranding will bring...

^ Position is so good, it should have been the A-side (with the same girls as well). It could have revived AKB entirely...

position is soooo nogizaka, i love it a lot. i'm a huge jabaja apologist so i can't imagine it as the a-side but it's srsly a great song

I feel like a lot of recent 48 songs take Nogi inspiration, Position, 3-2, Sherbet Pink, but with a 48 twist to them that I like. I have some favorite among Nogi songs, but none are from the recent years sadly...

yeah i feel like they're trying to bank on nogi's success which i get, but also i wish they made their own image lol. tbh i feel like akb should've just transitioned to nogi's concept over time instead of making a whole new group with it but i still love nogi and akb so idc lol

It's actually a really interesting topic to reflect about.

 

When looking at Nogizaka46's first singles, their style was really different from what is currently called "Nogi-like". Guru Guru Curtain, Hashire Bicycle (a fav of mine), Oide Shampoo had a retro-ish, cute flavor to them. Seifuku no Mannequin was a complete OVNI in their discography and they came into their style with the like of Kimi no Na wa Kibou and Kidzuitara Kataomoi. I think that more than anything, it's the girls that were in the group that shaped its style. It was packed with stylish, elegant, princessy ones and they naturally drove the group into their direction. (Let's also mention the fact that they had a rock side to them from the start, mainly in the B-sides, and I believe they stayed close to it to this day, even though I am not up to date with their releases).

 

In the begining, Nogizaka used the 48s popularity, and style to an extend (but really, cutesy idol songs are any idol group's style), to make their way into the business, and now it is the 48s who use the Nogi trend of music, dance and outfits to stay relevent. In a way, they're even. 

 

But I am with you on that Yuripop, I prefer that each group stay true to itself, and I am more of an 48 songs fan and wish they would just stick with their own brand of idolness.

 

Clearly, Nogi was created because the 48s producer got bored with them, and now he got bored with the Sakamichi groups and moved his focus to the Last Idol franchise (which is a blessing TBH).

that last line's on point, it really feels like he's just dropping everything once it becomes unsuccessful or boring which is so screwed up :/ i am interested in how akb might ever revive tho, like if they'll have an image change, if they'll just come back into popularity naturally during another idol boom, or if it'll be another girl (or multiple) that hits it off in the mainstream. it's really weird to think about but if they do try the image change (which i kinda doubt since they haven't tried it now, they'd probably do it if their sales really started falling) i wonder if it'll be more nogizaka or if it'll be unique, like something really dumb to get publicity or not. idk

Actually, it appears he drops it once it gets "too" popular. Which is an interesting situation. In the same way some fans only support underdogs and change their oshi once she has become popular...

 

Regarding what the 48 could do next... I wonder. What was their image to start with? I mean, especially for AKB48, they have done everything! Cute idol pop, waltz, choral song, EDM... I wish they would just switch back to the mainstream idol pop that built them (Iiwake Maybe, Oogoe Diamond). They were so close with Sustainable, this one is the bop of the year.

yeah i feel like they have something with their safe cute idol pop sound in songs like sustainable and shitsuren arigato, but also i think they need to do something new with it to bring in more fans. maybe like a sound overhaul? similar to what momusu did with switching to edm i think, like still keeping their trademark idol cuteness and everything but moving the sound away from the idol pop rock thing. idrk what that'd be but they need something that makes them stand out besides their tons of members now bc 46g does that too
