Is there even a Studio Ghibli thread on this forum?! It doesn't look like it. Blasphemy!

 

I'm on a Studio Ghibli rewatch now and it pains me so much that this probably won't be released for another 2~ years in the U.S.

I hope it won't take that long.  If the trailer is any indication, it's an amazing movie.  Maybe it's the song.  I don't know ... I just want to see it!

 

Also, Hideaki Anno (Evangelion) is voicing the protagonist?!

Hmmm. Looking at the last few Ghibli releases:

 

One year in between Japan and US releases for The Cat Returns

7 months in between for Howl's Moving Castle

One year in between for Ponyo

1.5 years in between Arrietty

One year in between From Up On Poppy Hill

 

Guess I overshot my estimation! Hopefully it'll be released as soon as Howl was. I wonder if they'll perhaps release Kaguya-hime here at the same time like they had planned to release them in Japan, or space them out.

 

I always get excited to see who does the English dubs. They always get some great names.

 

I wonder if Ghibli films will ever be as fully appreciated as they should be in the US. Well, actually, a lot of people my age have heard of at least one of the films (usually ​Spirited Away) if they haven't seen them. But I still wish they were more popular. I couldn't find a theater showing From Up On Poppy Hill when it came out here.
