^ It's an each year thing... like the Elections.

Aki-P considers that a true idol needs luck tooo... so he made this Rock-Paper-Scrissors Tournament. And each member of AKB48, lucky members of sister groups take part and the winner of the tournament is the center of a certain single... Uchida Mayumi for Chance no Junban in 2010, Mariko for Ue Kara Mariko in 2011, Paruru for Eien Pressure in 2012 and this tournament is to decide who's the center in the December single.

^^^ SNH48 and JKT48 members won't take part. Only Takajo, Nozawa and Suzuki who got concurrent position. No Miyazawa (T-T) and Nakagawa and other members...

ya, the winner will be the center and the top 16? (or12?) will be in the single.

On the last tournament, Paruru won and that really propelled her into the top top.

Some of them wearing unusual dress as for luck.

Seira of SKE worn a bikini and has said will wear less for this year (just discussed recently in the SKE thread).

Yeah they use janken to decide the entire order of the janken single positions 1-16.(they do extra ones backstage to sort out people in the same rank during the tournament)

It's especially great for fans of girls who aren't featured as much and also for getting to know members you might not have before :)

I'm hoping if there's any kind of streaming coverage that they do a better job of showcasing the matchups this time, so more people can see some of the girls they may not know or aren't as familiar with. One thing that irks me most about this fandom are idiots whining when less popular members advance and beat popular ones. Maybe them getting to see the girl, becoming familiar with her as she advances might make them less stupid (or at least act less stupid).

But yeah, I became a fan of Kobayashi Marina because of her run a couple years ago, so this tournament is definitely a great way to discover members if you pay attention to it. Plus, the outfits, the suspense, the whole scale of it; it's really a fantastic event all the way around. :D

The bracket was for the tournament was released. :D Is there a higher res version of it anywhere? I'm on my phone and the one I've seen I can't even make out the names at all. Quite annoying. Hmph.

As for my very biased predictions:

Group 1: Yokoyama

Group 2: Watanabe Miyuki

Group 3: Tomonaga

Group 4: Furuhata

Group 5: Takahashi Juri

Group 6: Fujita Nana

Group 7: Watanabe Mayu (Seriously, how many times has she been so close to making it, then failing right there?)

Group 8: Nozawa / Katou

Group 9: Kodama / Kawaei / BOSS

Group 10: Fujie / The Rock

Group 11: Kikuchi

Group 12: Sasaki / Shimazaki

Group 13: Iwasa (I would have gone Iriyama if it weren't for the fact that she cried and was initially ungrateful over getting 30th when she should have been happy about ranking at all this year)

Group 14: Yamauchi / Umeda

Group 15: Shiroma (I'm hoping she takes down both Oshima girls and whoever it is from the other side just to make a statement)

Group 16: Satou Seira / Koyanagi

I just picked favorites and such, but taking a look at my list right now, these girls on senbatsu would make for something truly special if it were to happen.

At least for the most part regular senbatsu members are in the same bracket and we don't have many from sister groups that made it through so this year we might only have 2 that even make it into senbatsu. Since Moripo didn't make it this year I think I would prefer the results to look like this:

Group 1: Tomu                              Group 9: Boss

Group 2: Milky                               Group 10: Chikarina

Group 3: Mio                                 Group 11: Sakura

Group 4: Nao                                 Group 12: Tanamin

Group 5: Juri                                  Group 13: Micha

Group 6: Kitarie                             Group 14: Umechan

Group 7: Mayuyu                           Group 15: Ryoka

Group 8: Chiichan                         Group 16: Seira

Thanks guys for posting these. :) I'm pretty heated that so many NMB girls drew in the A & B blocks. My goodness. What pitiful luck in aiming for an NMB center that there can only be one semi-final representative out of six girls (PLUS Yui), haha.

I'm seeing a couple of blocks that are really really difficult to root for. My own biased predictions:

A1 - Yagura Fuuko def. Yokoyama Yui

A2 - Uno Mizuki def. Watanabe Miyuki

B1 - Tomonaga Mio def. Tano Yuuka

B2 - Furuhata Nao def. Okita Ayaka

C1 - Abe Maria def. Nagao Mariya

C2 - Kobayashi Marina def. Fujita Nana

D1 - Kashiwagi Yuki def. Takeuchi Miyu

D2 - Kato Rena def. Kojima Haruna

E1 - Kamieda Emika def. Kawaei Rina (this bracket is impossible...but I'll go with positive BII vibes)

E2 - Fujie Reina def. Izuta Rina

F1 - Sato Sumire def. Kikuchi Ayaka

F2 - Sasaki Yukari def. Tanabe Miku

G1 - Iwasa Misaki def. Iriyama Anna

G2 - Kobayashi Rikako def. Nakamura Mariko (I want nothing to do with the Rippi vs. Ranran matchup ack)

H1 - Shiroma Miru def. Kuramochi Asuka

H2 - Suzuki Shihori def. Koyanagi Arisa (I want this matchup, but I don't want either to lose)

At that point, I think...well, I think I'll back track and say I'm just going to go all out for Mirurun in this tournament. Can't wait!
