I just love it when I cannot watch a video based on what country I'm in...

I have the 4 single versions on pre-order, but to be honest, I feel like canceling order based on that YouTube block alone.

Its not the decision of youtube to block it, its the copyright holder forcing blocking on youtube, but look at it this way, nothing from ***48 is available on Itunes outside of Japan, so if you canceled the order based on the Mayuyu video being blocked on youtube you would have to stop giving the entire ***48 empire any money at all for blocking everyone non Japanese on Itunes and the same applies to various other Japanese Idols...
Sure the random racism from Companies sucks, but if we stood up against them we would end up not having wonderful stuff like the Mayuyu debut single... can there be life without a Mayuyu solo single?

I know very well it's not due to Youtube, but due to Sony, who in this case is behind the release. And I don't have iTunes nor care about iTunes, as I buy physical CD's

It's the fact that a company shares a video of their artist on a global video sharing site but thinks that other people from other countries are not allowed to watch it. And that makes me want to knee whomever thought this was a good idea in the nose real hard.

And so the fact that I am a person who buys these releases, then have to be told that no, look, you can't watch this video - go away, or something. Oh yeah, and we're "sorry" ... Might sound like I'm whining a lot here but it's the principles behind it that I just cannot get into my head, especially when it's a video that Youtube handles, and not Sony - hence no bandwidth issue.

Edit: And yes - it's hard to ignore the CG Idol...

Sony is a global company, why not go and throw all that crap to local offices, maybe they will notice it better than deaf japanese bosses...

My point is just if you wanted to be consequent and not buy the Mayuyu single cause Sony is acting like a bunch of d***s who don't want our money then you would pretty much have to boycott the entire Japanese Idol business as most of them block random countries somewhere.
And we all know that isn't a viable solution, so in the end we unfortunately just have to suck it up.

The block applies to vids of other singers on Sony Music Entertainment's YT account. It may have been set by an overzealous employee ages ago?

http://www.watanabemayu.jp (which is owned by Sony Music Entertainment) has the PV on the home page (available to everyone - although it takes a while to load).

^ YouTube has tools ready to use, while for own site it has to be implemented from scratch, and is not first-order necessity. We should not talk about this too long, as they may feel obliged to "fix" it...

Her closest competitor is Yamapi, who has a total of 90,605 right now. So it's either #1 or #2 weekly for Mayuyu, depending on how this week finishes!
