This is a thread for idols and musicians. It just has to be oldies. I suppose to me that means anytime before about 1995, but really more 80's and before. I would have included Chisato Moritaka but there is already a very well maintained thread for her that you should all check out.
Who do you guys love when it comes to older J-pop artists and groups?

Mori Megumi
- Tokio Town -
and I loved it.
I even have her album MEDIUM released in 1989
PS
there is a singer with the same name but she was born in 1985
this Mori Megumi was born in the 60's

LOL I was just listening to a Sharan Q Best of the other day, they are actually really good!
I remembered another great act, Candies!
Heart no Ace ga Detekonai
Fantastic pop group. Sadly, this year Yoshiko (known as Sue) died from cancer.
I really like the natural look a lot of these groups and acts have, having to focus on their natural beauty and their great vocals.

Judging purely by songs themselves, the #1 artist in my heart will always be Momoe. On top of being a top notch singer she happened to have endlessly creative collaborators who made her short career shine. I have managed to buy only two of her albums so far, but I want to get all of them. I've listened to her songs a LOT on YouTube and here are some of my cuts: the futuristic Toki no tobira, the mindbending Mahogany Morning, the fierce Santa Maria no atsui kaze, the soulful Tight Skirt, the dramatic Dancin' In The Rain, the rocking Rock 'n Roll Widow and the haunting This is my trial. Last - but not least - is my favorite track of hers, Sayonara no mukougawa: this live performance was one of the first things I saw of Momoe, but it made me a fan instantly. The noise from the audience and her own vocals are in the way of the instruments, but this is such a emotional, heart-breaking performance. It's so sad to see a young singer in her prime singing her very last song with such power and genuine pain.

Rock 'n Roll Widow
YES. I absolutely adore that song, but I can't unhear her saying 'Rock n Roll Weirdo' - Haha. I wish she had never retired. I hate that she needed to do that. I wish she had made a comeback, I suppose the mystique of her makes her more popular though.
