Not sure if everyone here read about it yet but Sakura ended up trending on Twitter on Tuesday thanks to her short solo cover of Gurenge (the opening theme for the Kimetsu no Yaiba anime) on this week’s Hello!Anison Club:



She talked about it in her blog post on Tuesday but said that she was too afraid to look at the trend in detail in case she was trending for a bad reason:

Since then fans have left lots of comments on her blog post reassuring her that she was trending on Twitter because lots of people really liked her “Gurenge” solo cover and thought her singing was amazing, and several news articles have been posted in response to her trending because of her “Gurenge” solo cover and praising her for her amazing singing:

The loosest translation I get from google translate/my own interpretation goes something along the lines of that she hopes idols can be evaluated based on their personality and music, not on anything else, and she was saddened by the Sayuki business because she thought that fans cared about idols for what they did (dancing, singing, smiling, glittering, etc.), but it seems to be not the case so she is disappointed. She hopes that one day idols can become more independent, and that she will uh, continue to challenge herself with music so she can see this happen.

I'm sure someone who actually knew Japanese could provide a better translation.
