Avatar: The Last Airbender takes place in a world that is home to humans, fantastic animals, and spirits. Human civilization is divided into four nations: the Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. Each nation has its own natural element, on which it bases its society. Furthermore, people known as Benders have the power and ability to control and manipulate the eponymous element of their nation using the physical motions of martial arts.

This has got to be one of the best action adventure cartoons ive ever seen in the west. I know this isnt anime from japan but its still anime(tion) thats heavily inspired by various asian and some native american cultures. At first i just blew it off as a sad attempt at making a anime style show to make money but the more i watched it the more i liked this show. great writing and great animation kept me watching until the last episode. i loved how deep and human these characters were. no one was perfect and every single one of them carried extra baggage with them. IMO this show could go up against some of the most popular anime series in japan and blow them out of the water.

wiki says that the new season will take place in Republic city a city that was founded by aang and zuko. so no adventuring but this gives it a chance to have a more solid story and better developed secondary characters. having a older avatar helps give it a more mature look too. korra looks like she can kick some major ass! i think i also heard somewhere that there werent going to be any fillers. so yay!! lets just hope that the animation is as good as the trailers.

The new series has Korra as the new avatar, and it takes 70 years in the future from the original series. There will be two seasons, 26 chapters total. There is also going to be a triology of comics which fills the gap between the two (at least it will explain some things not explained in the series). You can still preorder the first part (hint: is called the promise)

Also, there is no specific date for Korra, because in a couple of sites it says 2013 (T_T)... yeah, I'm an avatar fan

i cant wait! sadly Aang's gone though, otherwise there wouldn't be a new avatar ; ; probably Zuko and Toph though... i want Toph to be back =D

She would be like 82-83 years old, but the creators confirmed that all the original cast passed away already. So no chances of Toph u_u

I'm hoping with fervor that the sequel lives up to the original. I still watch the reruns. It's truly an amazing show.

just watched the episodes, this will be great. the animation really improved, the quality while in action scenes uwaaaa i'll definitely watch this

I just watched the first episode of Korra!!
I didn't even know the first 2 were out already!

Korra is like the perfect mix between Aang with a little bit Sokka I guess And Tenzin's character fits really well with that.

But the animation is sooo good and the music is really special!
I can't wait 'till april 14th when they begin airing~

I just watched the second episode and I must say Bolin and whats-his-face make a great contribution to the characters

I can't help but to feel a dark cloud overshadowing the joy of these new episodes though. I can't shake this feeling of crying every time I think of how all the original characters have passed away or had to make place for a new generation.
I grew up with this series and it's just so weird for me to know that the character who were your age just a few years ago have suddenly passed away It feels like I missed their whole life in a heartbeat...
Or maybe I'm a bit too hardcore lol~

It's such a great show and I'm currently watching it, I'm on the Book of Earth so I think that's Season 2? I was really shocked to see a spin-off of the show though!
