Inoue Rikako changed her name to Kominato Yotsuha and released a MV.

At the end she stated she going to make her AV debut.

It's good to see her comeback, I wasn't expecting AV, but I do wish her all the best!!

That's sure an interesting career switch. I hope she doesn't regret her decision though. I mean Fairies was a pretty decently known mainstream group. So for her to decide to come out of her retirement and then to go into the AV industry seems kinda drastic. It's one thing doing OnlyFans, it's another doing a full blown proper AV actress.

 

I wonder if this will be a final nail to the coffin for any potential future Fairies reunion or sorts. Don't know how much stigma is there in Japan for ex-mainstream celebrities going into AV.

It's hard to compare, Yua was a really just nobody that happened to be in a big group, she was never featured on any of their singles (only some b-sides).

 

That being said I doubt she will get close to Yua's popularity long term, while Yua was a nobody before she started doing AV she is now close to being a mainstream celebrity.

Perhaps I should rephrase my question, how likely will an AV actress get mainstream entertainment work in Japan? Can one continue AV work and still get mainstream entertainment work without any stigma?

There will be some stigma and it could stop her from getting some media jobs in the future especially if enough of the right people complain. The idol Dekami-chan even mentioned in an interview somewhat recently that one of several reasons for her own name change was that just being called "Paipai Dekami" was suggestive enough to cause a few cancellations. I can imagine that someone doing a quick image search in the future could also cause some problems for her while she's acting under the name Kominato Yotsuha. TV programs still have AV talent on for different segments or as personalities though, so she wouldn't really be locked out of the mainstream if she also makes a name for herself there. I just wouldn't expect any guarantees that she'd be part of a Fairies reunion unless maybe she's introduced only by her previous name some years down the road to try and maintain some separation between her different career paths.

@ the bold part, I would imagine that would be somewhat hard for a proper Fairies reunion in the future (unless the fans are accepting of her career switch). I would believe it will be hard to maintain some kind of separation? I mean at this time of age, as you said, it will be easy to identify her AV work or even the news of her going into AV (since she sort of make an announcement for it publicly).

 

I wonder how are the Fairies' fans reactions to this news.

Having officially made her AV debut, there's no doubt now at all about how seriously she's taking her new path. In many ways though it is probably for the best that she's ripping off the bandage so quickly for any of those fans she may have had who possibly still could have been holding out some hope that it may have been a light or more softcore AV career. Any fans with sensitivities in that regard may want to avoid looking up her new name, but I could easily see her carving out a pretty successful career.

I was going down memory lane with Fairies and I thought to myself, "I wonder how close they really were?" I remember reading somewhere on tumblr about how they see eachother, but it's a foggy memory. 

 

 

Edit: I saw Rikako's AV work and wow, my jaw dropped.
