I edited the usage of "trainees" in this topic into "research students".

At first some time ago I thought about mentioning the research student/trainee difference but didn't really care. However, since Hello!Project now apparently have changed the name of their Eggs into Kenshuusei, I think it's important to make the distinction.

【研究生】 けんきゅうせい (kenkyuusei) = research student (or, RS for short)
【研修生】 けんしゅうせい (kenshuusei) = trainee

At first some time ago I thought about mentioning the research student/trainee difference but didn't really care. However, since Hello!Project now apparently have changed the name of their Eggs into Kenshuusei, I think it's important to make the distinction.

The index uses the official translation which is trainee, see:

So this probably will change back at some point when I do other changes, since I edit the index in a local text file here (where this isn't changed) and just sync it with the posts (generally easier to edit).

Unless you find an official place where it is written as "Research Student" in English then I might sync this change But generally I opt for an official translation which often tends to be different from a direct translation for various reasons. For me "Research Student" or "kenkyuusei" are words purely from the fansphere and not words that are commonly used in such contexts (in a general/ broader non-AKB48-specific view) in the English language.

The Japanese term used is 研究生 (kenkyuusei), which means "research student".

The term H!P uses is 研修生 (kenshuusei), which means "trainee".

Let's not forget a lot of "official" things from Japan with regards to English, making absolutely zero sense and is devoid of grammatical meaning. So just because something is official does not mean it's correct!

When you look at the forum rule for the member subforum, the following is written: "Example: "Ishida Haruka, Team B", "Fujimoto Sara, AKB RS" - now, that usage of RS, is something that the English speaking fan community have used for years, and it is the same that several Japanese fans I know also uses. That's why it was added as such here.

Again, since H!P now is going to use kenshuusei, it would be nice if we can use the English equivalent of the word we use, kenkyuusei. It might look like "details schmetails" but the word kenshuusei is not the same as kenkyuusei.

It would be helpful if you could be more specific with your error reports. I have no idea who "Moriyasu" is (no hit for this string in the list) or who it should be in case it's typoed somewhere.

You mean Moriyama Sakura? Looks correct to me.
