I mean this thread, those talking about the AKB48 x MM collab, should keep the discussion here.

 

Anyways, in my opinion the collab is irrelevant regardless if the song is good or not, no matter how the people made a big fuss about it but in the end neither AKB or MM got benefited or harmed. About the song I didn't like it simply because I feel it has the same idolish vibe that AKB48 has (not an akb songs lover except for a few ones) just with a bit more energy. 

 

About fans complaining, I already said what I  think are the reasons why H!P are upset and adding, I think they should just get over it, as I said I find the collab irrelevant. 

 

But when I asked about AKB fans complaining somebaody said that it's logical that they're also are upset since there are 48 members who have never gotten to be featured in an AKB release, and I have to agree. I also prevously said that I think the collab has its consequences, and I prefered to not talk about it, but since there's a discussion about it here I think I could said part of it. And it's that the the only affected by the effect of the collab is the one who asked for it, Rino Sashihara, I really like her for expressing her love for MM so freely, she is really brave. But I can't help wondering if the collab would harm her, specifically in the elections. Because if there are angry AKB fans, then it's logical that they go against her. Again, just my opinion, I hope the people in the unpopular opinion come here.

But I have to disagree strongly on one point. The media coverage. Whether you were for or against it, it raised attention. Not for a very long time, but as I like to say, they gained momentum. One way of being recognized is to be featured in the media. But for now, even when they appear in mainstream media (not saying this in a bad sense, like some people in some country like to do), it doesn't last, like it's just for one day and then, they go on. So instead of making big news once and then disappearing, what should be done is making "big news" regularly so that they can catch more people through time, like reminding people that yes, they're here in the game.

 

And I think that for the first time in a very very long time, they managed to do just that.

*    Jan. 20 Yajima and Nakajima new show on TBS (the main channel, not a BS one (not an insult, just like BS-TBS, BS Fuji or something like that))

*    Jan. 26 '17 new single announcement (not star-worthy normally, but with the "20-year anniversary thing", it got a little more coverage than usual)

*    Jan. 28 Morning Misoshiru MV

^I'm pretty sure that she didn't have to expressly ask for it, both collabs are with people who Rino and Sayaka wanted to work. And based on the love for MM that Rino expresses it's kind of obviuos that she asked for it, even if she wouldn't have said: "I want to work with MM for this album". BTW it's kind of curious the fact that the Idol Medley for 2016 announced first "The Peace" performance with Rino and MM and a few days before that it was changed to AKB and MM. Some days after that the collab was announced.

 

And about your point referring to the media coverage, I do agree that it raised attention but I think it was just limited to wota people, may some non-fan people but I wouldn't said there was a momentum, I mean there wasn't even an intention from both agencies to make  the collab to gain attention, all the fuss was just from the media and specifically the online media because I just remember the collab was announced just once on TV and nothing else, also there wasn't a PV nor a live performance that was direct for people to call the attention, so that's why I called the collab irrelevant. That's what I think.

Honestly, I don't think Rino wanting to work with MM had that much to do with it. If that was the case then I would imagine other girls like Kojima Haruna would have been a part of the song since she's also really popular + loves MM. Rino definitely seems happy that it happened but I think it was all put together by the two companies.

Oh yeah it definately was, she almost certainly had no part in planning it herself. I just think they chose to make it happen because Rino has been so outspoken about loving MM and she is the queen of AKB right now. They probably thought they wanted to do a collaboration but decided on MM because they know (and many fans know) how much she loves them.

It looks like she'll appear along with Momoiro Clover Z Sasaki Ayaka and NMB48 Fujie Reina in the first episode of a drama starring Sagara Itsuki (she was on Buono!'s film Gomennasai) "Hello, I'm actress Sagara Itsuki."

 

Seems like they'll be maids in a café.

 

The drama begins on March 6 (Mon) at 1am, once again on TV Tokyo.
