Usually difference between major and indies is the distribution network, but i don't know why it seems the criteria in Japan is bit different. It's all on RIAJ.
T-Pallete has a national distribution network, but is not RIAJ member. So, i prefer to say that they're not major yet.
Maybe i'll write more about that later.... Just maybe..

FujiTV, which sponsors the Tokyo Idol Festival, has launched something called the "Tokyo Idol Project" --
More details will be revealed on March 24th.
I know people are concerned about the future of the Tokyo Idol Festival, due to the dissolution of Idoling!!, which was produced by FujiTV.
From JPLOP:
Fuji TV's TOKYO IDOL PROJECT is a TV spin-off based on their TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL event. They held a press conference for the new concept. TOKYO IDOL PROJECT TV starts airing with a special idol live first episode on 3/30. TOKYO IDOL FESTIVAL 2015 will be held in the summer on August 1st, 2015.

^I don't know whether that is a long-shot idol or a one-shot idol.
That idol is promoting the 2nd season of anime Prism Paradise, used as it's ending song.
It was said "Laala with Prism Idol Kenkyuusei"
Laala is the main character of that anime, voiced by iRis member, Himika Akaneya. While the one dancing there are members of Prism Mates, sister group of Prizzm. four of them are Mirei Takahashi, Yuka Takayanagi, Momona Aoki, and Airi Hamamura.

Correct me if i'm wrong.

snowdrop from Hiroshima to disband on August 2nd.
Their agency is holding an audition to a new idol unit.
They still have two songs that aren't on cd, so maybe they will be releasing those before they disband.(Although their cds are venue only, if you are in Japan you can order them if you contact them)

^ Yes. PREDIANNA is DIANNA☆SWEET's little sister group. It used to be a training unit for D☆S, with members coming and going. But they are now their own group with a lineup of 4 girls: Yua (leader), Rinon, Yurina, and Momose. More info in the DIANNA☆SWEET thread.

KOTOlive:
(She should release an album or a compilation with all her limited single releases…)
I stumbled across a video of her earlier this year and it was my favorite discovery in a while. She dances like crazy to electropop that's just as wild. All her most recent songs are by the same guy who produced Saoriiiii's 3cm Distance and I need them on an album that I can actually buy ASAP.
