Denpagumi inc, Idol College, Fanta☆Peace, OS☆U and SKETCH are going to do a live show on 2011/08/13 for what I suppose is the release party of Gotouchi Idol new batch of DVDs. CMs for DVD vol.1, vol.2, vol.3 and vol.4.
I've always been following other idol groups besides the popular ones and it's wonderful to see people are more and more interested in them!! TIF2010 definetly was a good thing : DDD
It looks like anhh has been posting a lot of links, videos, news,... here so I'll try to complete a little bit those with what I know and I'll try posting new stuff here too!!!

The first one is Mari7 (Marina). She's a really good singer and her songs are quite pop-ish (not extremely idol material). She's in the special Osaka unit KiSS&KiSS (together with Little Cutie J's, Hazuki, Nami, SKETCH,...). Her agency is SP!KE (same agency as Nami, Hazuki, and other... gonna talk about them later )
In the second video is Little Cutie J's (or Little Cuty★J's/リトルキューティー★J’s)! It's formed by Aina and Minami, both very young and talented. They aren't too idolish... they perform "cooler" songs. They have one single called "My Soul Sing". I started following them since they begin doing lives thanks to Sunkichi, one of their biggest fans, who uploads every live they do!
They post new videos on their YouTube channel each week, most of them like small TV shows and almost without music. Some groups try this strategy to make fans, so have fun while they are updating…
C＊LOVER has been active for a while now (maybe a year already?). I payed attention to them at first because Nicoru (ex AKB kenkyuusei) was a (full) member.. but I never could find any of their performance only their USTREAM channel. Maybe some performances are avaible on YT now? I don't know :/ Anyways, when I see a new idol group wearing AKB like seifukus I lose a little interest on them...
I would post more things about Nanairo, but still can’t find a place where to hear their songs (is there any way to hear their radio show?). Anybody interested in the group they have a thread in this subforums (but is quite dead). LQ cover of their last single:
I feel so frustated about this D: I really want to see Naruse again! I think I'll end up buying their CDs just to know how their songs sound.

A joint concert with groups like HOP CLUB, Fanta Peace, Mary Angel, SKETCH, Jewel,.... If I'm not mistaken, the last edition (Spring edition) was canceld due to the earthquake in Japan.
N(Nagoya) K (Kyoto) O (Osaka)☆Lovers!! is formed by Barbie Lips (Nagoya), Piminy (Kyoto), Mary Angel (Osaka)! Their first single is called Kyuun to Daisuki! (キュンと大好き!) and is going be released on August 17th. B-sides include one original (and new) song per group: マイライフ マイペース (Barbie Lips), ミラクルなんて信じない (Piminy), Forever Light (Mary Angel).

Searching for Piminy videos (blog, 1, 2, 3) I started looking other groups and units linked on their blog. One of them is fino (blog, live show) and the other one is K・Kいれぶんは (Kyoto Komachi Eleven?) and this live performance is a blast.
But they don’t seem to be very active right now (check their website or blog).
"Management agency Vision Factory has announced that it is launching a new female idol group this summer. The group consists of 7 junior high school students, carefully selected from dance schools around the country. According to Vision Factory, they will be focused on being a true dance and vocal unit, rather than a typical idol group.
The members are Ito Momoka (13), Fujita Miria (12), Nomoto Sora (13), Hayashida Mahiro (13), Shimomura Miki (12), Kiyomura Kawane (12), and Inoue Rikako (14).
The group does not yet have a name, but it was announced today on the morning show “Sukkiri!” that they are publicly accepting suggestions for names.
All seven members also appear in the opening pages of the free magazine Harajuku Girls Vol. 4, which is being released today. They can also be seen on the magazine’s website".

I don't come to this forum often so I totally miss it So I read all 4 pages and I went
And about the seifukus.. I know AKB don't own the seifukus I love Idols in school uniforms but one thing is normal seifukus (or original seifukus) and other is akb-like seifuku And by that I mean those that just look like AKB cosplays (like the RIVER, Iiwake Maybe, Kami Kyouku Tachi,... ones... I've seen A LOT of those). Before AKB became this popular, there where many Idol groups debuting too, but they didn't wear seifuku that often .
However.. I'm ok with those soloist that actually wear AKB cosplays (or any other cosplay) in their lives
^ yep i undertand your point i saw some idols with akb-like seifuku and some performing akb songs but never both things at the same time

Seifuku's are classic Idol attire. IMO, all Idols wear a seifuku or a seifuku-related outfit once in their career. It's like an unwritten Idol rule. Also, for those who may not know, AKB uses seifuku's so much because their Idol theme is 'school'. Girls join AKB and once they are done 'learning' how to do a variety of different things (sing, dance, TV appearances, gravure work, acting, etc.) they graduate and move on in their career. (Or at least that's how it's supposed to work, but right now, they are kind of facing standstill in the graduation process because of their popularity. It's complicated....)
Also, I'd love to post more stuff other than my one, lowly post, but I don't know where to get information... Can anyone recommend any sites for Idol news? Even if they are all Japanese, I'm slowly learning so I could use the practice and break out my Rikai-chan when it gets tough.
I love all the posts in this thread, though. There are so many new groups I've gotten into and my Idols-I-need-to-buy-CDs-from list has definitely gotten much longer~

^ Not really sure about which sites you should visit to get info... Leaving aside Natalie o GirlNews, that post some and you already should know, most come from artists, record labels or event organizers websites... tweetbots, some blogs and not much more...

I find a bit hard to post every single news, videos I see/find every day so invite you to check my playlists on YouTube. I started doing them some years ago so I could keep track of some specific idols but I forget to keep adding videos and there're time users delete them. Also, if you subscribe to users like tsuchimaruboy, sunkichi2001, hidetty,...... you'll have a lot of new videos to watch per day.
Silly thought of the day (prompted from that picture above):
Two recent polemical issues about idol releases: AKB48 homage a popular cinema aesthetic on the covers of their latest single, and leaving aside how good or bad are the results, how great or not they are, what one find strange about this is what kind of image should be “good” or “great” for idol releases: a “modern” picture of the group or singer? The other one is BiS’ latest PV, where people started complaining about them being naked or just trying to generate hype about them. That is, idol images are literal, they can’t be allegorical or a metaphor of something.
I just saw this thread and read this news. Yay for Sakura Gakuin, EbiChu and Jewel Kiss returning to Tokyo Idol Festival! Minitia Bears are returning too, and thank you for the links. I can't find any info about these girls in English! Please, someone create a Wiki or fansite! I want to see videos too, but all I've seen is their 20 second appearance in TIF 2010 and a video I uploaded myself. I know there's more, but who has it?
By the way, Minitia Beras are referred to as "Minichia Beras" here: http://www.generasia...i/Suzuki_Hirono I believe that the misspelling was made by the same idiot who misspelled Hirono's name under her picture, then labeled three other EbiChu members pix with the same misspelled name! Those problems were fixed, but obviously the "Minichia" was never corrected by anyone. I'm not a regitered user, so could someone else fix it?

i think almost everybody is returning to TIF but they added many groups so i'm pretty sure they will have more performances on big stages... also if you ask me, i think that the groups that more developed or are more notorious now compared to last year are PASSPO (by a mile) supergirls and sakura gakuin... then ebichu and afilia saga east
