Bit of an uncalled for comment. Even if you don't like the way he presents his views he often makes some very interesting and good points. And his opinions are just as valid as anyone elses even if you don't agree with them. Calling somebody "stupid" because you don't agree with them makes you look a bit silly yourself.

Let's stop talking about things we don't know yet! they always sound strange in the beginning.
They were not mixed and they must have been pretty nervous. I think we should wait till we actually hear them sing

Yes, because Lin's solo intro to "Aozora ga Itsumademo Tsuzuku You na Mirai de Are!" and her solo cover of "For You..." on the marriage album weren't a method of pushing. The company wanted to show her worth, but there were the factors of her being a foreigner and not being popular enough to get more solos even in songs her voice didn't suit. Someone earlier mentioned she probably got less chance to shine because her vocal type doesn't suit the majority of songs H!P released during her time there.

But besides that, none of the junkies have the huge factor of being a foreigner (Panda) or even being one the most disliked/least liked in the finals (Mittsi). So we can pretty much just leave it to skill and popularity for this generation.
And since we just lost the main vocals of the group a short while back, we don't know how management will handle this. They could use this chance to turn the group more idol-like, they could try to polish the newer members so that they can sooner command the reigns (performance-wise), and/or they can even let RRR control the vocal department. We don't know what their plans are and we don't even know what the new sound could possibly be at this point.
Gratefully, all of the finalists could sing well (not "awesome", but not poor), so we didn't even have to worry about them adding a horrid singer - there's still the chance that management will work hard at preserving skill in the group. But some proof that they had more "we don't wanna sound like crap" attitude towards MM, Koha did mention that they wanted to give her more solos but she couldn't handle them (if someone remembers where this is from, please tell me; it feels like I'm quoting air here). So if the group had to retain some skill back then, and the junkies are all decent singers at the least, then there's still a fairly good chance that management won't ignore skill for this group. It may not be as equal as we like, but there will be skill.

Now, this is more off-topic, but Dawa and Mano have improved immensely since their debut. Do you remember how they sounded in their first single ("Minna no Tamago" for DAWA and "Mano Piano" for Mano)? Have you heard them recently, either in their latest single or concert performance? Dawa still needs more work but now sounds like she's singing with actual depth, and Mano finally reached the point where I think she should've been at before debuting as a soloist. Eripon is still new and doesn't have many lines, so I think she'll take longer to improve if this doesn't change. With Yurina, I never noticed anything weird with her vocals (early-Risako probably would make your stance better for argument). Kirarin was management's fault for letting Koha get too carried away with her role, and Sayumin was chosen probably just for her appearance (I haven't seen/heard Tsunku's thoughts about 6th gen finalists).
But as most of this is all subjective, using them as "proof" for H!P being "gravure" is rather poorly argued. And this is besides the fact that most of their activities aren't photobooks. Yeah, the company pays attention to appearance. Sorry, but if you feel average-looking girls will sell better than prettier ones (especially in an idol group), you are mistaken. However, this doesn't mean it's impossible for a less-pretty-than-another would lose out in popularity; there are different charms that attract fans, such as voice, personality, and aura. UFA knows pretty girls rake in a good amount of money, so that makes them gravure? So that would mean nearly all entertainment agencies are gravure as most in the world want pretty people. Or did you mean something entirely different?

Just wondering why this thread is still going seeing as...the auditions have ended o.o There are H!P discussion thread son Popularity and Talent and how they push members etc.. so maybe those would be better ^^
