Reasons for forming AKB's sister groups:

SKE - See how the sales figure goes if the idols are in their own region
NMB - See how sales figure goes even if the girls are not cute (read: ugly) but are pushed really hard on TV
HKT - So how about pretty girls?

however, three things should be taken into consideration, in view of the large number of "48" units rising from all over the place:

1. It is not financially possible for fans to support all of them
2. It is much easier for people to lose interest in the "48" brand
3. It is inevitable that song quality cannot stay at today's high levels

In other words, use with caution.

I understand what you saying but...

1. I know for a fact that not everyone supports the ENTIRE 48 Family. There are plenty of comments around the Internet from fans saying they love xxx48 but not xxx48

2. That's true, this is the music industry we're talking about and it is more difficult for groups to last as long as soloists but with the way the 48 Family is going I doubt that will happen for a LONG time. However, despite the fact that the 48 Family is popular there are plenty of copycat groups around which may possibly drive fans away from everything xxx48, you never know. We'll just have to wait and see

3. Well, each xxx48 song is different in it's own way, even the coupling tracks are always different. In other words I don't think the song quality will drop anytime soon

If there's a Hokkaidou based group,*cough* HKD48, I support them. I lived in Hokkaidou for a year, so if they show the many great things about Hokkaidou, I really get behind them. If most of the members are actually from there.
