I think it's safe to say that Arai is actually growing her hair out. Which feels almost sacrilegious. I kinda hope it's specifically for some of the acting work she's been doing... (not that she looks bad, (she doesn't!) just... she's got a song about it and all that)

Nakagawa's kinematics (striking straight down, using her body instead of her arm) looked sensible to me, as a total layman (don't let my use of the word kinematics fool you, I don't actually know anything). So I thought she was going to do well. And I was worried that the setup was too low to the ground for lanky Saho. But... hey, experience matters!

Ahh, UUG is great.
I went to a "regular event" at Akiba Culture Theater today, and they had a game segment. Which, in honor of UUG(2) and (pro-resu) doing a "true ability evaluation" (実力診断テスト), was a "true ability evaluation" of... not idol abilities. Acting and news-reading.

The newsreading was fine, funny, etc., but I want to share how the acting half went.

To start with, they were acting opposite Suzuki Keita (of Jo-Jo Gundan, i.e. Sawayaka Goro's partner) and he was playing their boyfriend, asking them to break up with him.

UUG: What? Why?
K: Sorry
U: You said we'd be together forver!
K: Sorry
U: Is it because I'm a pain?
K: *headshake*
U: Is it because I always cheat on you?
K: *headshake*
U: Okay. I understand. Let's break up.
K: Thank you
U: But, I want to ask one last, selfish favor
K: Okay
U: (each one can make up their own idea)
K: (is supposed to agree to it)

Sekine is first. After complaining that she has to act opposite Keita (he's supposed to be her boyfriend!) She reads it pretty straight. Neither really emoting or moving around. Just kinda reading lines. But she gets hung up on what favor to ask, and eventually says, "One more time, just hug me tight." So Keita agrees and starts to walk towards her, and she screams and runs away, hiding in the corner of the stage. (this is her own fault...)
Next was Saho. Before Keita starts his lines, she mimes that she's cutting vegetables in the kitchen. So when he asks to break up, she raises the (imaginary) kitchen knife and says, "WHY?!" And every time she asks another question, with "the knife" still raised, she takes another step closer to him. When eventually she accepts the breakup, she finally puts the knife down. Her last favor is what he likes about her, he answers her hair. The End.
3rd was Mori. She wanted to start the scene more "naturally" like they were watching TV together. She kind of plays up the "Because I'm a pain?" type girl, being a bit pushy in her questioning. I forgot (or maybe didn't fully hear?) her favor, but there was no particular crowd reaction, and Keita only answered something like, "Okay." In my imagination, it was something like, "Let's stay friends"

4th and 5th were Arai & Furukawa, because they both have solo acting experience (Arai did that movie & drama, and Furukawa did a few stage shows)
Arai plays pretty straight, and displays fairly natural emotions throughout, actually showing chops. Her favor was "Let's die together!" and she pulls out an imaginary knife and charges at him. Keita said 2 kitchen knives isn't fair. She got the idea from Saho, but has always wanted to play a murderer... so maybe some day. (Though, imho, if she just accepted them breaking up... dying together doesn't make sense, she should have just wanted him to die alone *nitpick*)
Furukawa really hams it up. Stage show style. Moving broadly and projecting her voice. Showing that she really learned something when she did her shows (though a totally different thing from Arai's) Her favor is to make her laugh. Keita says he can't. Everybody boos.

Now, maybe I'm biased (yes, I'm biased) but Saho really deserved the prize on that!

Also, fwiw, UUG(2)'s Sasaki was the judge, and boy-howdy did she nervously giggle a lot. I mean... it's natural for a girl of her age to giggle, and being on stage in front of 100 wota might make anybody nervous, so I can't blame her or anything... just neeeervous.

Would have loved to see how Sengoku and Ayanon would have tackled it. Both also have acting experience.

December 27th, UUG will be doing a show with their whole catalog. Details aren't settled yet, but the table-talk was that it's more than 6 hours of straight music, if they don't take any breaks.

Does that mean they're going to do a 9 hour concert? Or shorten stuff with medleys? I don't know, but I sure as hell want to go and find out!

PASSPO just played their last gig ever at the Nakano Sunplaza, UUG sent them flowers. How nice of them to support a fellow idol group who's not even in the same company as them!

During the thickest parts of the Idol-Warring-States Period Passpo & UUG spent a lot of time at the same events. So, they were kind of war-buddies, even if they were supposedly competitors.

I didn't really follow Passpo, but I don't think they were ever on T-Palette. The Passpo wikipedia page shows CDs released by "Jolly Roger" (not exactly a label) and then Universal.

Yeah, I checked too, didn't see where they were ever on T-Pallette. I know that many girls from different (rival) idol groups are friends from school, such as Captain, Erika Umeda and Hanoi Team's Hikaru Kojima, so maybe there are deeper friendships. I know that Airi is close to a Passpo member who went to school with her.
