Hello everybody,

it seems there is a new magnitude-7.1 aftershock.

DanielKahl the Japanese tv talent I follow on twitter is reporting that Ibaraki, Sendai and Chiba have got tsunami alerts, so this is definitely genuine intel about a fresh aftershock that was high level

I feel bad that I haven't posted here in so long. Been... busy. With a lot of things...

It's crazy to think there are still tons of aftershocks and stuff going on, even a month later. I mean, I know things don't just go back to normal right away... But it's just crazy.

I've decided I'm going to start selling some crafts online... Why is this relevant? Because I'm going to donate the money I get from selling stuff to relief funds, of course. Well I'll also have to replenish my raw materials. But basically everything else I make will go toward Japan.
Since I don't have much money, I figure I should try to help somehow.

BTW the song covers I'm doing are still on, but I haven't gotten some people's lines yet. If I don't get them soon, I'll just cover those lines and upload the videos, because I don't want to wait too long.

And as for the difference in earthquake magnitude, even if it won't conjure up another tsunami, it's still highly inconvenient for people who experience it, and face it - it's still not a good thing. True, not much can really be done about it, but just because it's not as bad, doesn't mean there's nothing to worry about.

@BlackKnight
Yes its true. 7+ on the Japan rating scale. Its one of the more serious after shocks. 4 people killed and 11 wounded. 1 of the killed was a 16yo schoolgirl :(
Apparently their houses was hit by mudslides triggered by the quake. There were no other damages to properties.

Power to the damaged Fukushima power plants was cut again but was restored 50 minutes later. No un-usual radiation level was detected.

@Konstagirl
That is a really sweet drawing :) :good:

Oh damn that is scary...
(Why not just put the camera down and at least attempt to help?)
Well I know there's not much that could be done...

Nature is a scary thing... If I've learned anything from natural disasters, it's that.

It's in German.
And yes, you are right, holding a camera and continue shooting while people die is just wrong...

One of my friends in Japan went up to Tohoku to show some Doraemon films for the children in the evacuation centers last month. There are some pictures up at this blog. Currently all the content is in Japanese, but since he's bilingual, there should be English content up later.

Here's some video, but I hope it's only a taste of more to come.

Just wanted to step by and say a few things. First, thanks to everyone who said kind words to me while I was in Japan, it helped more than you might think. I know I promised I would keep updating from Sweden, but the truth is that once I came back to my parents' home I had no strength or energy. I was sad and in shock. I pushed away people who wanted to hug me, I struggled with expressing how I truly felt and I kept thinking about my "family" in Japan. In fact, I didn't want to think about japanese stuff. Couldn't listen to music or watch doramas, didn't want asian food at all. I dreamt about earthquakes, I dreamt about nuclear plants, I dreamt about the world ending. Everytime it started shaking I panicked and thought it was an earthquake. Always needed to remind myself I wasn't in Japan anymore.
However, I got better though after some weeks, but I pushed my classes in school until July. Things were unclear for so long that my mom forbid me to go back. The days before my birthday was the thoughest. The plan was to celebrate under the cherry blossom trees in Yoyogi-koen, but since I couldn't I just wanted to stay home and not celebrate at all. It just felt wrong. But, 2 days before my birthday I pulled myself together and invited everyone I knew, from friends to family and relatives, to a big party. Me and my mom cooked japanese food for 7 hours and it actually felt good. I had so much fun and my mom say "wow, your smile is back". Guess that day was my turning-point. And think about that I wasn't even affected by the tsunami. It's heart-breaking to think about how they must have felt if I was ill like that.

I'm back in Tokyo now, since 2 and a half weeks. I've never been this happy, I think! And since I have no school, I'm just enjoying myself, dragging the japanese people out for fun like karaoke or dinner parties. They told me they haven't been doing any activites like that since the earthquake, but now they understand that they kinda need it. Some of my dearest friends had/still have family or friends in the most affected areas and they're, of course, not feeling well. Japanese people are good at hiding emotions and surpressing feelings, which can't be good for them. They tell me "don't worry, I'm japanese, I'm strong, I'll survive! Don't think about it." But if you're really looking into their eyes you see their suffering. But even though it's not good, I'm impressed by them. God, yes, they are strong. And yes, they will survive. Because they are japanese.

It's great to hear from you again, cilver!

I'm glad to hear you're doing better now.

I think, though, even if Japanese people are strong, they're still human. Even for them, hiding their emotions too much can't be a good thing. I just hope people like you will continue to help raise their spirits.

No matter how strong people are, they'll always have weaknesses. So it's important to understand those weaknesses and support them through hard times.

since today is exactly one year after the earthquake, I looked for some videos on youtube. here are three videos I found, there are of course tons more.

Japan earthquake and tsunami anniversary: Fukushima's last inhabitant
this guy still lives in the fukushima area. he is taking care of the animals there. I really find him amazing.

Japanese earthquake anniversary: Survivor of Rikuzentakata recalls 'nightmare' tsunami
this video shows some footage of konno fumiaki-san's experience during the earthquake and his thoughts about the rebuilding and the government.

this video is really, really sad, but at the same time really, really beautiful. it shows strong people who believe and are thankful. it also shows non-japanese people who helped. it is really beautiful. I cried from the beginning to the end.

I hope Japan will keep on fighting like this.

After over 1 year, Japan isn't same at all!
But, I'm sure that if we will wait a bit more, Japan will be better than Before!
