^I think she might understand Tagalog. Though there's a chance she can't because Tagalog isn't a language she uses regularly.

Is anyone here already in japan? And also a fan of Rikako?
I can't speak the language any longer but still understand it.... But has anyone here tried or wants to talk to Rikako in tagalog?
Do you think her mother teaches her kids any?
I don't think so. Best you stick with Japanese or English.
Sorry I don't post much here as the Filipino community has a Facebook page.

Hahaha.... Yup.
Just always curious with multi-cultural families.... and in this case, it would be Japanese and English because they are in Japan. But since the mother is from the Philippines, I wonder if she would have them learn some of her (the mother's) language as well...

^^ Unfortunately, since we Filipinos tend to speak in English in foreign environments, Tagalog is mostly reserved for communication with fellow countrymen and is not normally a language taught to their children born in other countries. Thus, while the Filipino diaspora is the third largest in Japan, you don't see signs in Tagalog/Filipino but you will in Portuguese, Korean, and Chinese.
Case in point, someone did that to a handshake meeting with HKT48 KKS Yamashita Emiri who is also a halfie and she had no idea what he was talking about.
But I think giving her a card or a letter in Tagalog when you meet might be OK. Dunno how staff will treat it though.
