I just learned how to read cards and I've been studying ALOT about the tarot. Anyone read tarot cards or have any stories or history to share?

I used to, but I haven't for a few years. I use the Witches Tarot deck, although I used to use the Arthurian Tarot deck. Tarot, at a minimum, is a great way to view a complex problem from different angles. I never really used it for fortune telling, I mostly used it to get another perspective on current situations to help me decide how best to deal with them. It takes a while to get a good feel for what the cards mean.

I have 2 sets of Tarot Card decks (CardCaptor Sakura Clow Card Tarot Cards, and super mini Tarot Cards), but I haven't done much with them.

I would say that I started to investigate Tarot Cards in the past because of Escaflowne. :sob: I might get back into it, or at least play around with my CCS cards a bit.

I have a question though:
Is it true that if you buy your own Tarot Card deck you'll have bad luck?
I heard that to get around this, a friend has to buy the deck and give it to you as a present.
Let me know if this is a myth.

I've heard the same. I received mine as a gift.
I've also heard not to allow others to handle your cards (like try to do their own reading or someone elses)

I've been reading for about 7 years~ I find it very enlightening and also kinda therapeutic? I guess?

I DO....I am also a Ceremonial and ritual magician
"The consistent anarchist should be a socialist, but a socialist of a particular sort. He will not only oppose alienated and specialized labor and look forward to the appropriation of capital by the whole body of workers, but he will also insist that this appropriation be direct, not exercised by some elite force acting in the name of the proletariat. Some sort of council communism is the natural form of revolutionary socialism in an industrial society. It reflects the intuitive understanding that democracy is largely a sham when the industrial system is controlled by any form of autocratic elite, whether of owners, managers, and technocrats, a vanguard party, or a State bureaucracy."

Let me know if this is a myth.

It's an absolutely ridiculous myth! The usual gumpf goes along the lines of: "You shouldn't buy your own cards. When you are ready, the cards will come to you!" or similarly: "The cards choose the reader, not the other way around!" This sort of story is cooked by the type of people who 'read fortunes' for others and want to make themselves appear more special/gifted/etc. Don't believe a word of it.

Tarot is not for reading fortunes or impressing your friends.

The woman who trained me would not let her students read their own cards in practice because it does not yield a reliable result. To this day, I still don't try and read for myself. Reading for others is a much better way to practice.

No, I don't believe in things like Tarot card reading. I do play some regular card games however :)

I've tried getting into Tarot but I've found that I like other forms of fortune telling more (Numerology being my favorite). I still find it really fascinating though! My aunt is really into it, I think she used to do it as a side job or something.

I do some "fortune telling" card games with normal poker cards. I learned most of them from my friends at school, since we get bored during lunch and after school. I suppose it's a similar concept, but the process and meaning behind each card is very different.

I don't know anyone with tarot cards and I personally have no experience with them, so I'm not sure how I feel about them. ^_^; I tend to be a bit skeptical about card readings because my friends are the type of people that redo it until they get a favorable reading.

I would really like to get into palm reading though, mostly because it looks interesting!

I was always so interested in this and palm reading :) I have a normal deck of tarot cards, and I also have a special "fairy tarot" thing that I thought was cool :P The art was awesome, so I mainly bought it cause of that.
My fiancee and I have had so many experiences, and our minds are so open to occult things that I can't help but believe and love things like this :P
It's also extremely fun to do readings for friends cause XD I'm so good at explaining stuff, their eyes are always wide open and go "O.O how does it know me so well??" LOL

愛 love you

A little bit. I've been studying up on the Qabbalah more than anything. Once I have a solid understanding of that, I will probably start reading Tarot more frequently.

Yeah, I have a Fairy deck that I haven't touched in years. Not sure why because I found reading to be a pretty (if a little daunting) relaxing ritual
