Now this is something really interesting. This is probably the first forum I've been on that has majority yuri lovers over yaoi lovers. I guess it makes sense since these are female idols. I wonder how that all works? For example, I'm obsessed with female idols, can't seem to get into male idols, but am also really into yaoi (not the cum-sucking/rape kind, but the shounen-ai kind with a little action here and there). Noted, I'm a hetero female who is not a fan of yuri, but can stand a good one every once and a while (please note that the username can be deceiving). Also, I could never watch real gay porn, and the thought of non-fictional men getting it on really doesn't appeal to me. What about you? Your sexuality, preference, and all that? Man, people are really complex.

Oh, and also Doushite Namida ga Derunokana (an yaoi manga) references Aibon in the story to describe a girl- "...when she smiles she looks like Ai Kago", or something like that. Yamada Yugi is my favorite yaoi mangaka (and she cites Morning Musume making her even more awesome). Everyone here who likes yaoi should check her out. She made me a fan, and I still continue to go back and reread all her works (have even purchased some even though my Japanese blows). Read Ore Wa Warukunai. MY FAVORITE. AGH.

I have been searching for the name of that manga for like a year, I remember reading it randomly( and saved a screen cap of the girl since it was so awesome)
but I completly forgot the name of the manga itself and It has annoyed me like forever.

Ok so I'm not the only girl who prefer Yuri. I find it more beautiful or passionate, I don't know. Yaoi isn't ugly but I'm not attracted by it. *sounds strange to say it * On manga, I like the both, because of the drawings that I found too much beautiful.

That said, I found it a shock when I started watching Kanamemo a few days ago and seeing a straight out kiss between two females. The closest to that I saw was simply one of the female minor characters constantly lusting after the female lead in Girls Bravo. I forget their names.

I don't really like either particularly, but I watched the Yuri show Aoi Hana a short while ago. It was the best thing I ever saw. I reccomend it to absolutely everyone. It's a beautiful story, artwork, music, everything. Just try it, even if you aren't a Yuri fan. Or an Anime fan for that matter

The manga is almost identical. I've started to watch that too - remember to listen to the OP and ED while reading the manga, though!

I honestly like Yuri better
Some Yaoi is good here and there if the story line is good but I don't know...

Like Chobi said, Yuri is more passionate and meaningful and indeed beautiful.

I knew there are girls who like Yuri, but I never thought some would be here! I myself, prefer Yuri but am a girl. The storylines seem to feel more deep to me than most Yaoi mangas that I've read.

The reason I became truly addicted to AKB48 was because of yuri!

I was on 4chan's /u/ board one day and there was an AKB48 thread that was talking about Mendol, and then Nezumi x Center from Majisuka Gakuen season 2. I got interested in the latter of the two, and then watched the whole second season, content the whole time.

There's an unspoken aura of... awesomeness (or something along those lines) between Nezumi and Center, and that's something that I tend to look for in yuri manga/anime, as well as a lot of sappy drama with happy endings. It's sort of cute, I think?
