Changing car fuel to bio - diesel, green current and all that.
In my opinion instead of thinking of half - assed things like that they should find a way to stop it and not slow it down.
Also as far as I know bio - diesel actually cost more then normal fuel, and because of the fact that alot economies are built around the oil prices,
they will never completely switch to bio - fuel (even though current technology is actually advanced enough to for example let a car run on corn).
So really the environment can solve the problem itself, and if something goes very wrong in the not so distant future I will be one of the first to point my finger to the government.
Now excuse me while I put a cup of coffee and make some sandwich using my fuel powered coffee maker and toaster.
Note everything in the above post can and should not be taken seriously.

Apparently the world is going to be at world record hotness in 2047. In tropical places its sooner and in the more arctic places its later. Either way we are screwed.

I thought this term was misused? I might be wrong. We mostly refer to it as climate change. It's not just "warming" but "cooling" as well. Extreme hotness and extreme coldness as well as bizarre weather is what's happening. Although I'm not sure if it's more "hot" than "cold."

^Well its just this study I read on my Ap Mobile app on my phone and it kinda freaked me out. Its still in the future but still. It looks bleak and then theres that asteroid that could hit earth in 2036...
This has been a long day...

lol it's still too far into the future though. I mean even without humans escalating doomsday, the earth would eventually get to that stage just as it did millions of years before the dinosaurs roamed the earth. Mankind's either going to evolve or migrate, just as many of the organisms and animals did back then.

Yeah, I suppose so, I'm sure we'll get more warnings and stuff when its closer to the date.

It is so cold then we can use some global warming.

But it's happening, just take a look at the wild weather that has been going on over the years:
Where I live which is a semi desert, we had a terrible storm and it produced a weak F1 tornado and I was living a few streets away from where it touched down, just being able to hear it scary enough.
But there have been stronger Cyclones, Hurricanes and Typhoons of late, and I'm guessing the largest tornado ever recorded that hit El Reno on the 31st of May 2013 isn't attributed to global warming then I don't know what is, because that twister was marked at 2.6 miles wide, which beat the Hallam twister of 2004, which was only 2.5 miles wide and only an F4 on the Fujita scale. But El Reno was rated EF-5 which is the strongest rating you'll ever get but they rebuked to an EF-3 which is pathetic if you ask me.
But yeah and we can't forget the 2011 year with so many extreme weather events.
Yeah call me a nerd because I watch the weather channel and the news, but Global Warming is happening and unless governments around the world don't pull their fingers out the asses, we are all screwed as more extreme events are going to happen.

It's enough to freak anyone out myself included.

We humans need to do something, we need to protect the planet for our generation and future generations. Or we're all screwed, there isn't any easy way off the planet when we do get to that point. The good news is, there are environmental campaigns formed by teenagers out there. There's one close to where I live, and there's this other one in Japan called 'Club World Peace Japan' that my Japanese teacher was talking about.

Everything you said!
I believe that if we screw this planet up enough, it'll cause some sort of "apocalypse" like out of 2012, and wipe everything out to start over again anew. Environmental activism has really gone more mainstream these past few years, and more people my age (teenagers) are taking more of an interest, so things'll hopefully look up!

Haha, mine was an exceptionally long post, and it's true that governments around the worldand campaigners are finally starting to do something.
I remember the Kyoto Protocol, the only country I know that didn't sign the agreement was USA.
And I never heard of Club World Peace Japan, sounds like it's pretty good.

What you said about us being screwed is also right, I've only seen trailers of Apocalypse.
Environmental activism shoild have went mainstream way back in the 80's when it was first recorded that global warming was happening, but on the plus side at least that activism has gone mainstream now.
I have noticed that witb teenagers these days taking a huge interest!
In Australia every year theres an event called Earth Hour where we turn our lights off for 1 hour, its been happening since 2007 I think, and the next year it gained so much news that everywhere around the world is doing it.

I only know about Club World Peace Japan because my Japanese teacher brought a student in to talk to us about it. I think they have their own website (I don't know if this is it or not).

The future kind of worries me, everyone seems so unconcerned about it, and I feel like we haven't really gotten our act together quite yet. I feel like it will only happen once its too late.

I don't really know enough about the subject to formulate a scientific opinion on it, but here in the US there are a lot of initiatives to put in place more and more environmental regulations as I'm sure you all know about. While I think we should protect the environment I'm just not sure if we'll EVER be able to offset all the pollution countries like China, Iran, India, etc. are putting into the air, so to sum it up all these regulations being put in place seem rather fruitless to me.

It may seem so, but it doesn't mean we should abandon the Earth altogether.
The biggest contributors to climate change is the fossil fuel industry, no doubt about it. A majority of the stuff they produce goes into electricity production and transportation (gas for cars). So I applaud companies like Tesla who have put forth a movement towards shifting to solar electricity and battery-powered electric cars.

Oh and I have no problem with that at all, if those companies want to take that avenue of approach then more power to them. I just feel that more government regulations on business in this manner won't help much, but I wouldn't mind if the government provided incentives to companies to pursue the use of alternative sources of energy. But yes I agree, we should NOT abandon our planet.
