48G consists of four groups currently. Each group is located out of a specific region. AKB = Akihabara/Tokyo. SKE = Sakae/Nagoya. NMB = Namba/Osaka. HKT = Hakata/Fukuoka. Each group have teams, with 16 or more members. Each group has kenkyuusei members which can be promoted. Out of each groups teams (which performs in their respective group theaters), a senbatsu lineup is made for the singles.

to add to what Krusha said, AKB has annual events like Senbatsu elections (where you vote for your favorite girl), Janken (rock paper scissors tournament), and Request hour (where you vote for your favorite song). They're the three most important events in the 48G franchise

also, there will be a new 48G called NGT48 lol have fun learning all the members. I've been following 48g for 4 years and i haven't learnt them all yet haha
