Everyone getting higher sales growth mean a lot of pressure for Morning Musume, the flagship group, whose sales have been relatively stagnant for the past releases. If they don't get higher sales with their next single, maybe they'll get the end of the short stick again next year

In a lot of ways, I don't think they're particularly interested in spending a lot of money trying to promote MM. Diminishing returns on promotion aside, most of the money they get are ticket sales/merch, which profit enough as-is for MM sans expensive campaigns, while other groups benefit hugely from that expense for future sustainability.

i honestly think they could make MM so much bigger but UFA doesnt promote them well like their other groups and just rely on their name for promotion.

Actually I don't think the company considers MM a flagship group anymore, even though it is perceived so outside. Right now, whichever group makes higher profit will have advantages.
