My sister had braces and expanders make your mouth sore for a couple of days. But so do braces when they're put on, and when they're rewired or w/e. You'll be ok!!

I had an expander. It's not so bad. It's a little sore when someone has to crank it to widen your mouth. What sucks is the food that can get caught in it, and you might talk a little funny at first since it's covering the roof of your mouth.

Had them when I was 9. Then I had braces twice. And now I have two permanent retainers.
