And the wheels keep turning in H!P in 2015. Musume will not only have four new members, but they will be without Sayumi. This is something that hasn’t happen in 11 years. Another group that will see change is S/mileage with also new members being apart in their first single also in 2015. But with additions comes departures. Berryz Koubou will be on an indefinite hiatus in 2015. Many changes that is the biggest since the graduation of the Elder Club in 2009. Being a fan since 2007/2008-ish, I’ve seen stability and I’ve change, so 2015 feels like a new chapter.

Berryz Koubou
I’ve never been the biggest fan of this group. Not to say they are bad but I just haven't really followed the group as much. But I was sad to read the announcement this summer. At the same time, the girls are around the same age as me. They have given almost their entire childhood and lived the dream of being idols. Now they pursue new dreams and if they want to return to music, it’s always there.

New Generations
New members are always a guessing game. It didn’t help that S/mileage was also having new members, so it was like two guessing games. Neither turned out like I thought it was going to. It rarely does because Tsunku has a mysterious mind, but both results felt like they came out of left field. Part of this is that we didn’t get any audition footage before hand which personally I felt like it was a huge promotional loss. There was all this awesome hype when watching the 9th and 10th gen. You never knew who was going to be chosen and even though you only saw only a little footage, you still felt a connection to at least one girl. One girl that you can see standing by the current group. And the excitement finding out that they actually got in...but I felt like there was a loss in it. I was still excited to read the results, but I felt a little disconnected from the girls. It was like learning about the final score of a game before the start of the game.

12th gen Morning Musume
An inclusion of 2-non egg girls is nothing new and I’m not surprised that they were added. I don’t know much about them. Mikki has amazing english skills, and Oharu has some crazy twitter pictures so hopefully we can see this crazy personality in her idol career. Now the addition of eggs isn’t surprising either but the addition of two hasn’t happened yet so it is a bit. Maria isn’t too surprising. She’s pretty and has a pretty big fanbase following her from her egg days. Akane on the other hand is very surprising. I thought her good friend Funaki would have a better shot at being part of 12th gen. That being said, she is growing on me. She isn’t the best singer or the best dancer, but Sayumi has shown that you can still be an amazing idol without starting off with either skills. In some pictures, she has a slight blank look that worries me. I hate when idols have the blank look in everything they do. Even when they smile, it doesn’t seem to quite reach their eyes. But a glimmer of hope is the when Akane does smile, she looks so cute.

3rd gen S/mileage
Now Musume was surprising, but I never guessed any of the members to be added in this gen. S/mileage has always had a cute image. They did have songs lately that show a more mature side but they still have cute songs here and there. Hamaura Ayano, Taguchi Natsumi, Nomura Minami, Tanabe Nanami, Kishimoto Yumeno even Inaba Manaka were all eggs that I thought were going to be 3rd gen. The results aren't bad. I really like Rikako and Mizuki. I don’t know much of Maho but she is pretty. I honestly had a problem with the new gen in the context of S/mileage. This is not because S/mileage is the bottom of the pile. I actually follow the group more than Berryz. Then I remembered the attached change that will happen. The name is also going to be changing. That got me thinking. A new name, plus members that don’t have a naturally higher, brighter tone means that the image of the group will most likely change as well. Question is to what? I really hope they don’t go in the mature direction that has been highlighted. I hope hope hoooooooppppe that they will go in the more in a rock and cute direction like Watashi, Choito Kawaii Urabanchou (which happens to be Rikako’s fav S/mileage song too. *O*)

New group?
Now last year there was talk about a new egg group after Juice=Juice was formed. Nothing else was mentioned other than some eggs saying that they want to join a new group. With the departure of Berryz, there will only be four groups that form H!P. With so many potential talent right now in eggs, and some failing at many auditions they might feel discouraged and quit. And there are too many good eggs that I really don’t want to see go. >.<
