Random ramblings and ranting ~

Posted by Snipey, 27 April 2012 · 639 views

I usually only update my blog when I'm not supposed to, and that's the time I should be spending on my assignment . X D

Well it does take a while for my "creative juices" to flow out, although I have about approx. 7 hours to submit this in, I haven't even started. 2500 words, will I be able to do it?

Hmm only a month of Uni left, HOORAY...Summer is almost here! I first have to get through this month, ah my last 2 weeks of being a teenager, haha I didn't think a day would ever come where I will finally become an adult. 20...hmm nah I'm still 10 at heart. : D

Listening to a few random songs while typing this feels much better than doing any work, damn you internet for being so distracting and amusing. Damn you DBSK for being so gorgeous.

Which reminds me of the "ranting". Towards the Hallyu wave to be precise.
I was just reading about how Super Junior will be performing in Tokyo Dome May 12th, now don't get me wrong I do like Super Junior (well THE Super Junior that was SJ a few years back.) Wait does that mean I hate them now? Hmm....nah hate is such a strong word, I just don't like the road they're heading with their music and concepts.

Anywhoo well of course it's a happy occasion that they're performing in the most biggest arena in Japan, but what annoys me is how easily they have had the chance to perform there. Going back a few odd years to DBSK (Tohoshinki/Dong Bang Shin Ki), it took them about 3-4 years after their Japan debut to be able to perform at TD. It took them all those hard years of having to go to a different country, learn the language and also do their best to gather new fans, literally make a name for themselves as though they had to start again, though they were really famous in Korea. They also stated many times how it was hard for them to even get featured in TV shows and how they felt like they were just at the beginning again.
Now in SJ's case, they haven't even had any activities in Japan apart from a concert, their songs have just been their Korean songs re dubbed in Japanese and they haven't really appeared in any regional shows to actually promote themselves.

I guess this is the power of the Hallyu wave now, BoA and DBSK may have paved the way for their fellow stars to do well in Japan but I for one think it''s just too easy for them now. Not even that, the fact that half of DBSK (now JYJ) can't even perform or promote themselves in Japan because of the lawsuit they had wth sm is ridiculous, it's like saying to someone you can sing but you can't perform in front of anyone.

Rant over.

Time to work. Hmm or maybe I'll do one of those quiz thingys again, they're fun!

Listening to Akanishi Jin - A Page.

The only new Hallyu wave group that I really respect being in Japan is KARA. They have their own original Japanese songs, their management obviously puts effort into their work in Japan, the girls seem to really like Japan and have made friends with many J-Pop artists, namely some of the AKB48 girls. They don't half-ass it like some K-Pop groups do. Also, they did a great thing donating what they got from the sales from Jet Coaster Love to the Japanese Red Cross.

It's also obvious that the Japanese people really respect them. While I don't think they will ever be able to be seen as "Japanese" like BoA and DBSK have, they're probably the closest group to it now.
I see what you mean with KARA, they have done REEEEEEEALLLLYY well. But somehow still even with them and all these kpop artists it's like they come to Japan and straight away there on music station , heyx3 you know the big guns.

I'm also guessing the Japanese market as in the managements play a big role in all this, seeing how Hallyu is on top it's like they push the idea of kpop into all these Japanese fans so they'll buy anything and everything.
Dang it S-N-I-P-E-R.....there's another quiz I have to steal from you!!! :P

I'm not big on K-pop; but I can understand your frustration. I mean, the pioneers are the ones who really get pooped on while the others benefit from what they had to struggle through. I hope that they (Super Junior and the others) remember what it took for them to get where they are now. Personally, no one in K-pop now can hold a candle to BoA (but that's just my personal opinion)!

Listening to Beautiful Days from Yuya's 2U.....I love this song!!!!
Hahah be my guest and steal away~!

I'm not much of a fan of BoA but yeah she has also made such a name for herself in Japan.
It just really is annoying how easy some people get it, though SuJu did mention how they're nothing compared to DBSK and that DBSK started out with only 500 men shows...there's still that weird feeling of dude you're getting everything thrown at you on the plate.
