I liked it.
So much action like the first movie (I think they battled with 3 Angels, but I'm not sure at the moment), but there's even MORE FANSERVICE in this one.
-Misato bath scene
-Asuka bath scene, panty shots, boob shots, and the revealing plug suit (has the most fanservice in the movie)
-Rei nude scene (she had the most fanservice in the first movie)
-Mari's "bounce" scenes, boob shot
As for the plot, they did change a few scenes, but there was one major scene that was different. HINT: Eva Unit 3's Pilot.
The characters had equal screen time; sort of. A good amount of Asuka calling Shinji an idiot, Misato/Kaji 'relationship' tension, Rei showing emotion (oh what?), and OH SHI- is that Mari and Asuka being bad ass? I usually don't like to throw that word around, but man... The energy the VAs had made the scenes much more exciting. Gotta love Maaya and Yuko's work for that. Also, Shinji grows a pair. That boy had the most hot blooded scene in the movie (final moments). The VAs did a great job; no complaints here.
Only problem with the movie? They kind of re-used the same footage from the first (Misato's drinking scene; and I think that was the only scene), and they had white subtitles. White. It's much worse than yellow.
If you haven't seen it yet, I recommend you doing so (as long as you saw the original series). I can't wait for the blu-ray to come out (quality kinda sucked at the theater).
Also, a tip. Stay after the credits stop rolling. You'll be rewarded.
