I randomly post my event attendances in threads, but since it's very unorganized and I'd rather have it all in one place I'll put them down in blog entries as I go to more of them.
So~ I just came back from her Birthday Event and will report on it. If you don't want to be spoiled on what will be on the Birthday Event DVD, don't read it!
I arrived at Tokyo FM Hall while the first event was still going on and only some people were outside, who were going to attend the 2nd event, like me. I was curious what the goods were and where they were sold so I awkwardly entered the building, moving up until I saw what seemed to be the cutoff-point, with some staff sitting there. They were probably like, 'what the hell is this foreigner doing here' because the place was completely empty aside from me walking up the stairs towards them. So I asked the guy behind the counter if I could buy the goods there and he showed me them. I kinda didn't want to leave without buying anything after entering the place and ended up with the overpriced tea set, lol. Both the cup and plate are completely white and only has Yamaki's initials and her last name on it, so it felt like a waste of money, but what the hell, I guess it's 'exclusive'. Came back when the 2nd event started and entered the space in front of the hall, with all the other fans. There were 3 boxes you could put a slip of paper with your nickname and seat in, and the people drawn from each box would participate on stage in one of the 3 picked corners.
So I enter the hall and take my seat (first row in front of the stage, right-most seat of the center area, you'll probably spot me on the DVD) and the show starts with Keita (aka Not-Sawayaka-Goro) doing his usual 'Are you all excited!' thing. Risa comes out and they talk a bit about who sent her Happy Birthday messages. Momoko actually didn't send her anything yet, and Funakki sent her a video with a lot of weird faces at 8PM because. Being the kid she is, Funakki had to go to sleep early and wouldn't be able to send her anything at 12.
First corner: Fans are drawn from a box and get 3 seconds each as they draw whatever word appears on the screen on the white board together. Yamaki is the last one to draw and gets 5 seconds. Then the final fan has to look at the complete drawing and guess what the word was from the completed drawing. Words appears on the screen: "Momochi in a maid costume!" (lol). First dude draws the Momochi musubi, crowd goes 'Ooooohhh~'. Good move! Another draws a nurse hat with a cross. Yamaki doesn't have much to add at the end as the image is pretty complete, but someone added something (it might have actually been Risa herself, lol) in Momochi's hand. The fan that has to guess now gets to look at the picture and guesses 'a singing Momochi'. Disappointment ensues.
Second corner: Hello Pro Quiz!. Fans are drawn from a box and they all, including Risa, have to hold up a single letter/hiragana/kanji, so all of their answers form the correct word in response to the question. Don't remember all of the questions but some of them were: What is the member with the purple image color's name... IN KANJI. So apparently the first kanji in her name is difficult and they all laughed at how the guy who had to hold up the first answer got screwed over. Before the quiz started Keita actually asked the fans if they felt confident, and this particular guy answered 'If it's anything regarding the kenshuusei, I'm ok!'. Risa takes the opportunity to tell the guy 'Nanami is from the kenshuusei you know!'. She can be pretty vicious, hahaha, actually destroyed a guy who was already feeling down in a different question. He told Keita at the start of the quiz he felt confident in anything regarding Risa. So one of the questions was 'What was the name of the photobook Sayumi released that had her wearing *random costume*?' So it's Sayuminglandoll and everyone held up the right letter except for this guy. Dude didn't seem to be very happy about being the only one who messed up, but Risa viciously says 'In order to know Yamaki Risa you first have to know Sayumi!', hahahhaha. As someone who likes Risa, I understand how that must be painful. Another question was 'How do you say 'Momo' (from Momochi) in English?'.
Me thinking: "Maybe I can help out! :D"
Everyone on stage: *don't even look into the audience and immediately start writing. Then hold up the correct letters, spelling PEACH*
Me: -.-;
Third corner: Sexy phrases! If I had know what this corner was I would have throw my slip of paper into this box rather than the 'illustration box', which was pretty full. Fans were picked, surprise surprise~ 2 girls this time around, and they had to say a sentence from a song (which was in English) in a sexy way. If they all said it sexy enough, the game was won, lol. So all fans do it, and then Risa says the line sexy, gets really into it too. The judges BOO BOO her, saying it's not good enough. She then proceeds to say the line while posing at the right, center and left part of the stage. Gotta admit; it was sexy, lol. It also confirmed what I had been noticing since the beginning of the show; her confidence has grown enormously and she feels extremely comfortable in her own skin. I watched last year's birthday dvd before going to the event and it almost seems like a different person. In a way, she's becoming Momochi, using more cynical humor alongside her fans, pulling off embarrassing stuff effortlessly and becoming a bit...detached. I'm happy she's feeling comfortable but I slightly miss the Risa who burst out into tears last year during her birthday concert and had a more...'tender' side to her. She seems to be very easily influenced by the people she looks up to and it might just be that Momochi's presence is so strong she can't naturally develop herself without taking over a lot of things. She doesn't seem like the kind of girl who would be into drawing, piano, manga or other nerdy things by the way she currently carries herself. I like that she involved the fans in the event though, and she's still a lot easier to figure out than Momochi.
After the live (finally got some eye contact, as she was facing the MC throughout the majority of the event!), she told everyone they'd be getting a postcard of the painting she drew that was put at the entrance of the event. We were led out of the hall row by row and waved off Risa who was standing behind a counter outside of the hall. I told her 'Happy Birthday, Risa!' in English and she responded with a large 'Thank youuuuuu!'.
Anyway, it was fun and my first birthday event! Coincidentally, she's also the only H!P member I've previously congratulated on her birthday; congratulated her last year at the birthday concert. So if all goes well, I'll be able to congratulate her on every one of her birthdays until she graduates without having missed out on any of them during her term
. Now looking forward to Nonaka's and Harunan's birthday events, which I will also attend~!
