ranking morning musume
I think I enjoy having a blog too much. Sorry for spamming. But hey I try to keep it relevant to H!O.
I know I do a lot of rankings, sorry for that. It's mostly for myself to keep track of the girls. My last MM-ranking was mid.June 2015. With the addition of 12ki and the spot left by Sayumi there is something new, but members also have moved in their rankings. This time I'm gonna start with my favourite to make the post not too obvious from the preview.

1. Suzuki Kanon (-)
Easy. Kanon stays in this spot and is unlikely to leave it until her graduation (or she fricks it up, which is unlikely). Though to be honest, sometimes it's a bit hard to be a Kanon-fan. It's like a carrot-and-stick situation. Once you get great variety stuff with Kanon, her singing in her radio show and her solo lines during the Gradation concert. Then she gets hurt and is out with the flu, missing two MVs, and she takes it on her shoulders by saying she was too reckless. I also have a feeling that she's not as ambitious as she could be, and that laissez-faire kind of makes me worried for her future in the group. However, I will always love her smile and kind character.

2. Iikubo Haruna (-)
Another one that is unlikely to move. I do love her more and more. Just the last days I thought about how great she is as an idol. She's just got the great package: Beautiful looks combined with a character that can be funny, cute and heartwarming. I'm really sad that there are not much more Honey-wotas out there, she's got so much to offer. As I've mentioned in a Profile Feed comment I think she'd do great on TV, too. In fact, when I rewatched the Mechaike specials (Bakajo/Unchi) last week the first thing I thought was "I wonder how Harunan would react in such a situation". Unfortunately it's unlikely for the group to get on that special anytime soon. Only one thing is for sure: My love for Honey grows with every day.

3. Oda Sakura (+1)
Sakura took over Sayumi's spot. She's just lovely. Her antics with Masaki are both fun and interesting to watch (seriously, these two are both silly and intelligent, their talks are really enjoyable). She herself is incredibly sweet. Also, she's so growing into her looks - I think she's one of the prettiest members in the group, and we do have some serious beauties here. Her voice is wonderful as always, I do hope for a bit more improvement though - not that she's bad, I just hope she doesn't rest on the "best singer" position.

4. Sayashi Riho (+1)
There was a time when I did not like Riho. Lol. I can't explain that. I have nothing but respect and admiration for Riho. Just a few days ago I thought about her situation and history in the group. She auditioned because she wanted to dance, not because she wanted to become the ace or something. But she does her job, and she does it well. I'm just a bit worried about her. Lately her voice has been in a low again (strained), as well as the gain weight that even the media talked about (damn you Yahoo news). I guess there's a lot of pressure on her.

5. Ishida Ayumi (+3)
The Daishi-feeling finally got me. Ayumi is so much fun to watch in backstage cameos. I love how she seems to get along with everybody. She actually has a great distinguishable character that the group needs. Again, Ayumi would be one of those that I'd love to see in a Mechaike special. Because honestly, for the majority of the girls I'd fear they won't have strong reactions - characters like Ayumi (as well as Haruna and Haruka) could be really entertaining towards a mainstream audience, though. To end my Ayumi-talk I gotta say the obvious: She's beautiful, and her shorter haircut is one of the best in the recent H!P hair-history (histairy? I'm sorry.). Also, one thing that has become even more obvious: Her dancing is so effortless. She's the queen on stage. Riho is fierce and awesome to look at, but Ayumi doesn't stand back at all.

6. Kudo Haruka (-)
Argh, Haruka. Don't let yourself get overtaken by the others! Haruka is great. I'm happy with how they're trying to push her a bit, even though I hoped for a bit more after Tiki Bun. Seeing her with her Kohais also made me realize how much she has grown. She was the youngest in the group! Suddenly there's 2 people younger than her! Though to be honest, Haruka never acted like the youngest. I feel that she should try to work on her expressions, though. With so many cool releases she needs a cool face, and her "cool face" looks a bit too angry/troubled/sad.

7. Sato Masaki (+2)
Eeks, what happened? Masaki was nearly at the bottom of my list last year. Well. She did what I hoped she would do: She became a senpai. Masaki can still be silly at times, but she's a lot more sensible than before. Also, her genius side comes out more often. I'm still not over the fact that she made CDs for the 12ki to train their rhythm. While I'm still not the biggest fan of her singing, Masaki's musical talent is obvious. Also, she's looking more beautiful than ever - and she has always been really pretty.

8. Ogata Haruna (NEW)
Oharu is interesting. The first time we saw her she was calm and shy. Then her pre-MM pictures got leaked and everybody thought she was secretly crazy. Then she continued to stay calm, but her talking skills are great. Maybe they are because she's already somewhat older than the other girls when they started, but listening to Oharu is calming. It's not super awkward or forced. Her singing is bad and she seems to have problems with the dances, but it's not like this is something that should stop me from liking her (I mean, look at my #2). Her Greeting-DVD preview also looked very interesting with her ice skating.

9. Nonaka Miki (NEW)
Miki seems to be the most talented of the 12ki regarding vocals and dancing. She herself is still quite awkward, though. Her looks aren't as sharp yet (compared to her generation mates), and the way they try to make English her thing is a bit annoying. I do have quite some hopes for her, though. Her piano playing (in both her Greeting DVD and that time she played against a professional) was pretty impressive, too.

10. Haga Akane (NEW)
I love Akane's face. It's already pretty mature-looking, beautiful and her expression of not giving a damn kind of amuses me. Also, she seems to enjoy a good meal, that's a plus for me. I just hope she doesn't overdo it with her baby-antics (as in, she seems to force the youngest-character a bit). Her gushing over Haruka is cute.

11. Makino Maria (NEW)
Not sure how Maria is the lowest of the 12ki in my ranking, she actually impressed me the most out of all of them. Her solo during the Hinafes concerts was good for a first solo on a big stage (in front of so many people, more than the KSS would have). She's probably the most photogenic out of the four. I do think she has to add a bit more to her personality though. A baseball-enthusiast is cool, but personally I couldn't care less about baseball.

12. Fukumura Mizuki (-5)
What the hell. Mizuki is in the free fall. When she became leader she was actually going to climb my rankings, but somehow it stopped. I do think she's a good leader, she seems to pay good attention to the group's dynamic as well as to the problems of the newbies. It kind of adds to her personality, too. Her dancing is good as ever, her stage presence is also quite good. However, I find myself liking her less. I don't even enjoy her singing anymore. In fact, I like her singing less and less. I don't know what happens.

13. Ikuta Erina (-3)
Some things never change though. Erina never strikes me as an idol. I mean she does make a good idol with her looks and her character. It's just not my kind of idol. In fact... she just keeps annoying me lol. First with her Gaki-gushing (that was waaayyy over the top, compared to for example Akane over Haruka or even Maria over Sayumi). Then with her attention seeking. Actually at that point I thought her being annoying was funny and not a bad thing, it was refreshing. But lately they're trying the sympathy trip with her (not having many friends in the group, being lonely at handshakes) and that's something that just goes on my nerves. Let's be honest, Erina is not unpopular. Erina is more popular than the 12ki, Haruna, Kanon or Sakura. She does try to estabish herself as the kind senpai (and some 12ki actually confirmed that she's very kind), but somehow she doesn't have a role in the group.
At first it was interesting to see someone challenging the center position. Now, next to Riho we have MIzuki, Sakura and Masaki, as well as Ayumi at times and Maria seems to get there as well. The fact that Erina's goal went from "#1 idol" to "center" worries me. UF* can give her the center position for one single and then graduate her. Then she's reached her goal, end of the story. Differently from Masaki who did everything right with the new positions in the group Erina kind of lost it.
Actually, looking at the situation now, I feel like Erina is more likely to graduate than Haruna.

That's it. Thanks for reading.
