My Experience with NGT48 Shonichi

NGT48 Niigata City Shonichi
Not to be confused, I will say right off the bat that I did not attend the theater. I just watched through online stream ^_^

I've been a 48G fan since 2012. I typically don't watch theater performances, especially live ones. The big issue is time zones. Japan is currently 15 hours ahead of me, which I live in the middle of the US. Now, a comment on the live stream I used said "time zones don't matter for 48 Group". I can see why!
But I had to be up around 7:45 am this morning. So, 4 hours sleep is meh, but I can live with it.
Anyway, here is my experience!

I got word that NGT's shonichi would be held at 4pm (Japan time - 16:00 Japan Time), 1:00am for me, so a good half hour before, I did what I could to prepare myself for bed immediately after. That wasn't too hard.

I went to my room and I was in the dark . Yes, I'm weird. I had my laptop, and I also had a flashlight. Why? Because I don't have a penlight XD So, a flashlight is the next best thing for me. (Which, how cool is NGT's penlight - I WANT IT!!

So I went from stream to stream trying to find a good one. I could tell one had audio, and it sounded like they had a raffle going before the performance. Also NGT's Aitakatta was on replay for who knows how long.

1am my time came about and I was sure that it should have started by then. Well, it started about 15 minutes later. And I immediately knew why. Some seats in the camera view were reserved, and that was for Akimoto-san himself and some other important people who followed with him. My guess is that he did interviews or press stuff or something like that. I wonder if he mentioned anything about it on 7gogo or something.

And then it started!! A video showed up and it showed Imamura Etsuro's trip to the theater. Then it was Katomina (I think?) doing an intro. And then...'NGT48!!" and that's when I took my flashlight and began to follow the theater guests with chanting. I tried to be quiet - I was the only one awake at the time!
Meanwhile, I was trying to do last second guesses of what kind of stage it would be - some said B1, some said A1, or A4 or even 43. OR a brand new one! I didn't know!

Well, it was of course A1 - which they had original costumes!! Interesting, right?

I so wanted to reach through the screen and hug these girls during the introductions - so happy and already crying!! So proud of my little sisters :sob: <3

The back wall of the stage is just a huge screen - it's amazing! And the theater is also high tech - the 2 pillars (reminiscent of AKB's) has screens, so those who are in tough spots can still view their favorite member. I thought that was nice. Skirt, Hirari and Kiss wa Dame yo were my favorite performances.
And we can't forget Kato Minami, right? :c18: lol, no I love her, really. She has a lovely stage performance. I was surprised by her flip too. Center, for sure!!

Sado e Wataru, as I said in the statuses, is quite clever. After I had to quickly search it, and lo and behold (for those who don't know) Sado Island is an island off of Niigata prefecture. A fun and creative way for the encore, for sure!

It was also really nice to bring out the other members who didn't perform in the shonichi. It was rather important. These girls cried too. Maybe because they were sad they couldn't perform in their first show, but I believe it was mostly because they have now begun their theater activities. Performing Sakura no Hanabiratachi together again at the end was the perfect ending. I sang along too ^-^

But really, when the lights went dark I was freaking out probably as much as the girls themselves. I hope I didn't wake up my parents with my "ehhhh!?" I kept saying ^^; But already an audition for a drama - how awesome!! I was so confused, until someone on the stream's chat said "dorama" then "Higurashi" popped up, and I was like oh, okay. It's like "The Who" audition with Umechan and TanoYuka.

Overall, this was such an amazing thing to experience. I've never experienced a shonichi, let alone live, before. I don't think I will see a lot of live shows (those of you who can, you're so lucky!). But I'm so happy that I could be a part of NGT's history
And, as I pointed out before in NGT's threat, I want to visit their theater first

I can't wait for their single debut, when that comes. Good luck, girls!! <3
