Goodbye dear Sayu...

sayumi michishige sayumi michishige graduation give me more love
So I just ended listening to the last episode of Sayu’s radio show.
At first I only wanted to read the English translation of the show, but I figured that it had to be heard as well since here are a lot of special moments. At the end of the show, Sayu gets a letter from Tsunku with a lot of praise and he said the following to her: Finally, allow me to say this: You were truly a perfect pro, Michishige. I want to sincerely congratulate you on your graduation.’

Which made me think that I feel the same way. Sayu leaving is also the start of something new. I entered this fandom during the Platinum Era and she's the only one left of the group I got to know. I started loving Morning Musume since 2009 and always had a thing for Gaki. I never really paid attention to Sayu and thought she was this annoying cutesy girl I instantly disliked because of her character. After Gaki graduated, I started noticing Sayu during the release of One Two Three which was her first single as a leader. It felt like she changed for some reason. Even though I’m supporting Eripon, I always kept my eye on Sayu. I found out what kind of great person she really is. She really gave it her all to bring Morning Musume back to the top. I know we’re not there yet, but it’s rising thanks to her. I can’t describe my feelings for her. The only feeling I can think of is 'gratitude’. I loved watching her grow for the short time that I followed her. And it has been great to see her enjoy every little thing during her time as a leader.

At the end of the show, Sayu started to cry. And I cried with her. I never expected myself creating a bigger love for a member than I had for Gaki. She also made me love Morning Musume more. It’s sad to see such a great person leaving the group, but we all know that’s the deal with Morning Musume. I have more feelings to express but I can’t think of them right now, haha. I wish I could have said these things to her in real life, but I sadly enough never got the chance to do it.

Sayu, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I am really glad that I could experience the real you. Enjoy your last day as a member and I know you will give it your all during the graduation concert. Congratulations on graduating and I wish you all the best for the future. <3

I remember there was a period where many many people disliked Sayu for the character she projected :)

If it helps at all,

I had written an e-mail to her radio show and (several months) later it was read. This was back when MM first started subbing their PVs. I tried to convey to her that she has many fans around the world and she inspires us with her work ethic and dedication. She seemed super glad to have a foreigner write in to her show, and said she was aware of how big the international fandom was by the sheer amount of English posts on the youtube videos.

Since that e-mail, MM's fandom has had a considerable resurgence, and Sayu got her flood of pink penlights in NY. I like to think she knows how much we all appreciate and support her (even us foreigners).
