"Monthly Entame" 2013 December issue 「The beginnings of the plan to Hello!Projectify Japan!!!!!」
Urgent Strategy Meeting ℃-ute×S/mileage Suzuki Airi, Okai Chisato, Fukuda Kanon, Tamura Meimi (exerpt)

――S/mileage was also given some harsh critique from Tsunku-san during last year's tour, yes?
Fukuda: S/mileage are children. And children have very rebellious hearts. If you make them mad, they'll work with the feeling of "I'll show you!" You know?

Tamura: It's not as though we put a lot of stock into the fights we have, but, like, releasing your anger into the dance, if we don't have any place to put those strong feelings, we might not be able to grow.
F: During the fall tour, we were told a lot of things not just by Tsunku but by all the staff as well.* But our leader Ayacho was shockingly strong and said, "You don't have to pay attention to those sorts of things! Let's finish what we started!" She really carried all the other members.
Suzuki: Wow, that's really shocking coming from her!
T: The most painful part of the criticism at that time was all the stuff that piled up inside. I honestly had so many thoughts of, "Why am I so bad?" The comments weren't just like, "You're not dancing as a group," but instead, "You're not feeling like a group." And then, "It doesn't look like you're trying," and, "You have no draw," were also said to us a lot.
S: Ah.... so it was like that....

Telling them that they didn't know how they were feeling was meant to get the actual members to think about what would be good.

Well, I think from the staff's perspective, they wanted them to break out of their shells so they did things like pointing out their faults.

But the actual members have no idea what to do, though

15: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 10:44:36.04 0
I've fallen in love with Ayacho's leadership

19: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 10:46:29.52 0
People must think that the staff are nothing but shitty assholes after Nakanishi's baseball practice episode.*

24: 5KU1hSz 2013/11/02(土) 10:47:36.17 O
Saying such awful things to Nakanishi makes me an I-won't-forgive-you-chan.
Tsunku was trying to point them in the right direction but they really need better examples.

26: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 10:48:07.90 0
To say to such gentle girls that the reason they aren't popular is because they aren't working hard enough is unreasonable and it really pisses me off.
It's your failures as producers, wouldn't you think?

30: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 10:49:52.25 0
So they get lectured by their producer about not selling tickets and then their staff puts all the blame for everything on them?
What a disaster.

32: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 10:50:16.35 0
What Ayacho said about the rushed tour makes it seem like the garbage with them is really piling up.
Taking Nakanishi's baseball episode into account, too.

35: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 10:50:54.98 0
Even Wada can unexpectedly be leadership material.
I'm rethinking my opinion of her a little.

41: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 10:52:28.99 0
The staff are also probably amateurs who have never had any great success in life.
That kind of trash putting all the responsibility on children makes them look so pathetic.

100: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 11:06:24.17 0
>>41
Yeah, really.
The current staff have no experience in making a great idol group.
At least Tsunku has written some hit songs.

106: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 11:07:40.92 0
>>100
But then the people who have had the experience of making big idol groups won't be able to forget their old ways and will just keep going on like that.

146: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 11:15:47.58 0
>>106
It's safe to say that MM and C-ute's success right now is because they kept using Terada.
Other people would change and wouldn't be able to keep up singing activities like with the OG.
H!P would be finished.

58: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 10:55:34.72 O
Ayacho's leadership is comparable to the leaders of the Chilean mining incident.

It's like they had the crap training that one usually gets from small companies.

That is exactly how it is.

That's it! It finally makes sense.

85: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 11:02:18.75 0
The videos where they yelled at them about Choikawa's ticket sales were so cruel.
And even as a planned thing it was so ambiguous. Telling them that they were to blame for not selling because they're bad kids.
That method of manhandling the girls into working harder because they have no other choice is so outdated. Even if they feel together as a group, if they're not selling they're not selling, and even if they feel disjointed, if they're selling they're selling.
The absolute worst part was seeing them push Nakanishi around and making her cry her eyes out.

They snatched away the S/m members' smiles.

In normal and even bad businesses they shoulder the responsibility for bad sales together.

91: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 11:04:49.18 0
It's just a method of making wota band together in support for the members who are punished so irrationally.

97: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 11:06:00.02 0

Even so, I think doing those sorts of things just gives way for people to rebel against them.

120: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 11:09:34.90 0
>>91
The wota only felt disgust after that.
Those idiots just copied what they had seen on TV without giving any thought to it at all, and this is how it turns out.

Rebellious lion Wada
The Heisei Era's Hanzawa Naoki!

119: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 11:09:16.95 0
Surely, "The tickets aren't selling," is undesirable talk of money, but things like, "Your feelings aren't coming forward," are so obscure that the members couldn't possibly understand how they were supposed to change.**

156: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 11:17:53.94 0
Nakanishi: "I tried really hard to get better at practice for the opening pitch but they rejected me."

Tsugunaga also probably feels like that

Above all
there really aren't any
wota who put blind trust into Tsunku's words

Tsunku♂ "Katsuta's energy is low. Make a running gag. Rinapu~ something, pu~ farts pu~. That'd be good."

When Takahashi was leader and the staff would yell at the younger members she'd scream back, "They're just little girls so watch how you speak to them!"
The shitty episodes with the staff are piling up into mountains.

一 In one word, it would be "faith."

What happens when the talent carries such distrust of the staff?

395: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 12:09:02.71 0
Ayacho has a startlingly rough temperament, lol
She'd get so irritated back at the hotel and pound on the wall, leading MeiMei in the next room to believe it was a ghost and start crying.

Something like that.

It seems that after the Choikawa performances were over, Ayacho was the only one called back to receive the irrational nitpicking.

Getting mad over disputes of their spirits is seriously bothersome.

427: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 12:14:55.96 0
I think it's absolutely ridiculous
Like, it doesn't look like you're trying,
Sandel said it too, but they're confusing endeavors with results.

486: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 12:24:09.01 0
Conversely I think that the current S/m is lacking in how they do too much.
They're trying too hard as idols, carrying too much baggage and the wota can't support them.
If it were the Golden Era it might work but now wota who like sports and lots of activities are very few in number.

506: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 12:27:06.52 0

No, there are lots.
Idols who say they sweat more than necessary are popular.

It's not about sweat.
Think of them like troops in a war.
It's about the fear of having to accept defeat.

It's not that the members are doing too much it's that the staff is strong-arming them into things.

Even if the girls change the damn agency staff never change so they continue to laze around and do as they like.
It's the same as how the world judges politicians who switch around but the bureaucracy never ever changes.

543: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 12:34:11.80 0
The staff should really confer with the wota who are actually attending the concerts before complaining so brashly to the members.

574: 名無し募集中。。。 2013/11/02(土) 12:40:23.64 0
The staff should be the members' allies.
Even though AKB has already done that sort of thing....

If Ayacho is standing up,
then all Hello!Wota will support her.

*To relive the trauma, see below!

Spoiler

**The reasoning behind the public shaming of S/mileage over the Chokawa tour was that tickets weren't selling. Because money is considered "dirty talk" in Japan, the staff were incapable of telling the members directly what was wrong, and so they had to come up with other, more obscure ways to make them feel bad.

Is the video that 85 is talking about still around?

...that sounds really horrible...

nevermind. had to finish reading.

Wow, Chile reference on 2ch :o

That sounds so bad :( ... I had no idea. Somehow this all passed me ... poor girls. This isn't the way to treat kids >_<

They can blame the girls all they want but if they make them a second rate group with poorer songs, costumes, videos and tours then everyone else in H!P then of course they will sell less.

If they treated S/mileage properly then they wouldn't have so many problems. But the company doesn't even care about S/mileage much like most H!P wota.

I didn't know that they were treated that badly, and especially not in that video.

I agree with what MrMoondoggie is saying. And aside from overall poor treatment, it seems that S/mileage has poor promotion. How are the girls supposed to sell well/expected to sell more if the company isn't putting the group out there for more people to see? The girls really do work hard. This group has been through a lot in the past few years.
