Tell us something interesting about the recording of “ 13 Colorful character”.
KUDO：well, I have a low voice so, I’m not pretty good at high notes. I’m still not able to use falsettos pretty well too, but at the “ Waratte You” part I did my best to reach highest notes.
SUZUKI：In the song “ What’s up? Ai wa dounanoni” ( what's up? how is love?) I tried rap for the first time. I didn’t know how to do it, so I tried to listen Niigaki-san’s way to sing as reference but I was worring myself like “ What I gonna do? I can’t do it like she does!”, but at the moment I get in the studio recording I was encouraged by the people saying “ You can do it, because you worked hard on it” so it helped me to be able to record.
What is your favorite song of this album?
SUZUKI：I like all the songs but my favorite is “ What’s up: Ai wa Dounanoni?. In this song is about a girl who has complains against a boy, but she is also not satisfied with herself. I think it’s a beautiful song.
KUDO：I like the verses of ” Zero kara hajimaru Seishun” ( youth starts from zero), I think it talks about the Jyuukies, because we are always fighting about little things so, seems like Tsunku-san wrote this song for us. My generation mate Satou masaki sings the final part, I’d like to have sung that part too, but I’m happy to see her singing it, feels like I’m singing. I hope she work hard to sing in the concerts.
Do the Jyuukies fight often?
KUDO：Yeah but it's nothing big. You know, everyone has strong personalities, especially Ishida Ayumi…she has a very strong one that’s why sometimes we have our little quarrels (Laughs). Iikubo-chan and Daishi (Ishida Ayumi) also tell me about things that i need to watch out. One of that things it's about Satou Masaki, because she is very naive so we can’t predict what she's gonna say. Also Ma-chan is on the rebellious age (laughs) so we hear very often she arguing with her mother and it's very similar to the discussions that we have among us.
By the way, aren't you ( Kudo Haruka) on the rebellious age too?
KUDO： I'm always on the rebellious age and i always say that to my mother.
Suzuki-san, Kudo-san said that she is always on the rebellious age what do you think about that?
SUZUKI：Well there was a lot of hard moments among the members who joined in 2011, but i guess it's not a big deal, you know, just regular discussions. But Kudou never shows that rebellius attitude in front of the senpais. I just know now that she is on this " rebellious age."
KUDO： Is that so? well but that's true i'm always on the rebellious age.
And what do you think about your improvement after joining Morning Musume?
SUZUKI： Well, when i joined the group, It was hard for me to say things like: " this is wrong" so i was wondering : "why i can't tell people that " , so i don't know what happened, but the things is that now i'm able to say " this is wrong right?"… well It's something like that: If a Jyuukie member is struggling with the choreography i come to her and say " hey, that happened to me too, but you need to do like this" etc...so i guess my improvement was to be able to express my opinion 'cause it was a thing that i couldn't do at the beginning.
By the way, that girl who was struggling with the choreography, was she Satou-san?
SUZUKI: yes ( laughs)
Kudo what do you think about your improvement?
KUDO：Well, before joining the group I was part of "Hello!Pro Eggs" so i thought that my responsibility was to teach Ma-chan and Harunan, who didn't know nothing about this things, so i was very nervous about it. But now they already know what to do, they even give me advises so i think now i can relax and be myself.
Which means to show your real personality?
KUDO：The other day i appeared in a TV show and I kicked Degawa-san ( Degawa Tetsurou a comediant and host of a NHK program) well, he said " let's play a game" so i answered " ok, no problem" but i was thinking that the moment i make my move he will respond...so No was my intention to kick him but my leg ended up moving naturally. well then, My mother saw this TV show and said me " you should not kick people, i warned you no to do that, but you always do what you want"
So that kick was a natural thing huh! ( laughs). Well changing the subject, in your private time with whom do you use to play?
SUZUKI：well, I usually play with my generation mates. But my schedule is a little different from Riho-chan’s, so I play with Fuku-chan a little, and with Ikuta i play a lot, it's very funny hang out with her because, despite our stressful work, she is very kind and she cares about me.
KUDO：I always ask Ma-chan to go out together but all the times something gets in the way or she commits to go out with someone else, even when she already committed with me first! …so we never accomplished to go out. The other day the Jyuukies were having a quarrel so I asked everyone to go out and at that moment Ma-chan agreed, so two weeks passed and in the very day that we had agreed to go out, Ma-chan said “ I’m sorry, I can’t go. I think I got a flu” so we had to cancel our plans, but a few days later she comes and complain about it “Why didn’t you invite me at that moment” and so I said “ Jeez! But You were the one who canceled at the very last minute!”( laughs)
Did you say that in front of her?
KUDO：yep, i said : “ Ma-chan you were the one who canceled at the last minute” and I also said “ that’s why we agreed to go out another day” and so she answered me “ Ah ,was that so?”. We always make fun of Ma-chan because she always cancels our plans at the last minute.
She does that frequently?
KUDO：yeah, the other day when we agreed to hang out she said “ I’m sorry I have to go out with my mom”
(Laughs) Michishige-san and Tanaka-san are leading the group now, what kind of person are they?
KUDO：Well the gap of age between me and the Kyuukies is quite small so for me is easy to talk to them. But, even I’m not afraid of Michishige-san or Tanaka-san, it’s hard to break the ice for me. When I joined the group, I couldn’t talk to them at all. Masaki Satou was the one who broke the ice between me and them (laughs) after that we started to talk normally.
Do Tanaka-san and Michishige-san scold you often?
KUDO：Michishige-san scold us about the dance and our way to talk, like whem we introduce ourselves and things like that and Tanaka-san san is more about our singing, like: “ When we are singing in choir You have to pay attention at your tempo ”. Sometimes the Kyuukies scold us saying “ Your dancing is still bad” or “ You’re doing the choreography wrong”. But Michishige-san and Tanaka-san don’t scold us because they like to do that, seems like they know exactly what to say and they never contradict each other
Maybe It’s possible that Tanaka-san and Michishige-san have a mutual agreement.
KUDO：I feel that Tanaka-san and Michishige-san have changed from the times when Niigaki –san and Mitsui-san were in the group. Now they scold us more than before, it seems like the environment of the group is different now.
SUZUKI：when the kyuukies joined the group; the people who used to scold us were Takahashi-san, Niigaki-san and Mitsui-san. Michishige-san and Tanaka-san barely talked to us. But since the joining of the Jyuukies Michishige-san and Tanaka-san became the senpais , so the distance between us has shortened and also that happened thanks to Masaki-chan. At the beginning I was a little scared wondering what would gonna happen if we get them mad, but I’m happier this way because it’s better to hear they say things to us than don’t hear nothing , now we can see that they care about us. But now also i have this feeling that soon the kyuukies and the jyuukies will play an important role in the future, so I’d like to learn a lot from Michishge-san and Tanaka-san before it’s too late
So, let’s hear a final message from the two of you who will be the support of Morning Musume in the near future.
KUDO：When Morning Musume was formed, i wasn’t even born. It feels kind of awkward to be part of a group that celebrates its 15th anniversary. But I’m happy, because the jyuukies’s first album “ 13 Colorful character”was released and many people can enjoy this celebration with us. One year has passed since the Jyuukies joined the group so I’d like to show my personality more, and so I will try to improve it more and more.
SUZUKI：Thanks to “ One Two, three”, our 50th single, a lot of people started to know about Morning Musume, so I’d like to hear kids saying in the future“ I know her since my childhood”. It’s wonderful to have 15 years of history so we’ll try to improve our personalities more and more in order to respect our heritage.
