Well, since blogs here at H!O can really be about anything, here's one that's sorta random...
Now that digital music has taken over everyone's lives, it's not usnusual for people to have 1,000s of albums to listen to. For someone like me, who likes a wide variety of music, this is great. However, some songs just get lost in the mix, and I end up just listening to the newest stuff, until the next new thing pops along. Because of this, a few years ago I decided to make special compilations of Japanese music that most likely would otherwise be forgotten. I called the compilations "JTrax" (kinda stupid name, yes), put them on my mp3 player, and shared them with my friends as well. I've made nine of them so far, with #10 in the works.
So, what kind of songs are on them? As I'm into pop/rap/r&b/hip-hop/H!P, that's what I put on them. Here's the general idea for what tracks I choose:
1) A special remix or alternate version
2) A coupling track to a single by an artist I like
3) An artist that I'm not a big fan of, but has one or two cool songs
4) songs from albums that have just one or two good songs (don't you hate those)
5) Random singles from random artists I don't follow regularly
I've decided to upload these "JTrax" albums here for anyone who wants to check them out. You just might find something cool you wouldn't have heard otherwise. Here are the first two, made back in 2004:
